I have done a handful of 5k's, ZERO 10k's (tyvm stomach virus), and 1 half marathon. I want to take some time, build a good base, and THEN start training for a half marathon (or several) next year. I have been plagued with injuries (nothing serious) and I think it is just because I jump into training with really no base at all for running. I have this crazy back issue, and my PT said last time that I CAN run, but I need to majorly cross train, so I want to do it right and stop getting injured. I just need to remind myself that running with my crazy back is different for me, and I should stop comparing myself to my running buddies. So, my question is: how do I build a base, and what does that really mean?
