#11- I'm reading that bad boy someday. #23- The new production was not on a rotating stage and it was JUST WRONG! God! They also didn't show the dates/location changes and DH was super confused that they jumped ahead time wise since he hadn't seen it before.
I started reading it and made it about 10 pages in. Regarding the rotating stage, DH took me to see "Forbidden Broadway" for Christmas, and they had a section where they parodied some of the Les Mis songs, including pretending they were on a rotating stage. It was hilarious. The actors kept "forgetting" when to get off so they would extend the song and go around again.

I LOVE Forbidden Broadway!
I went through a Les Mis phase in 8th grade after our choir class did a medley of it. I used to have a pretty convincing Cockney accent while singing Master of the House.

Has anyone seen Urinetown? Their whole first act finale was a humorous Les Mis-esque staging with the flag, rotating stage, smoke, etc. Hilarious.

(high5) I looooved Les Mis when I saw it when I was younger, which was several times since my parents loved it too. I dragged DH to it when it came to my area a couple years ago, and he said "What's so great about this?" and I said "What did they do to it???" I felt like they changed some other things for the worse too, more dialogue maybe? I was sad
The movie also let me down. I might just listen to my old soundtrack for the rest of my life....
I LOVED the musical when I was in high school. That's when I read the unabridged translated book as well. Also, I love the original French musical even though its less orchestral and soaring.
By the way, I'm sorry but that actor who played Marius (pictured in #18) just no. Complete NO for me. Didn't find him attractive, something about his mouth annoyed the crap out of me and I really didn't like his voice! I really wish the actor who played Enjolras had played Marius instead.

I've never heard of it. With that title, what in the world is it about?

It is a terrible title, which I think they address in the show. It's a comedic musical about a town with a drought so bad, they implement laws that require you to pay to use the bathroom. Makes no sense, of course, but it's pretty funny!
