I'm starting to plan for my fall marathon (because I'm a little neurotic!)
Anyone have a favorite beginner's plan? I would like one that takes me up to 22mi before race day...I'm afraid of only going to 20 and then not knowing what to do if I hit a wall.
I used Hal Higdons plans for my first few marathons. No complaints! I think his intermediate plans include two 20 milers. You can always make one of those a 22.
I used Hal Higdon as well, but I added an extra 20 miler, which you could make a 22. The best thing I did was add two extra weeks to the plan, cause life happens.

I used HH novice 2 and added two weeks to it. I added one step back and one extra 20. Loved the extra 20, but did not love the extra weeks. Next time I would change the 19 to 20.

I am going to be doing NROL4W starting next week (and it will go through Marathon training), so I've made a bit of a hybrid plan of my own based of the HH and FIRST plans to include a 22 miler, NROLW and some XT...we'll see how it goes
