A handful of us have been putting together the webpage and content for the Love and Live Virtual Race, supporting Pixy and family in the tragic loss of her daughter.
There's an icon in my sig, if you click on that you'll get to the page. I'd love a few more eyes on it so I can edit. We still need a few things:
*Ellie is embedding the registration form on the registration page, which will make that easier. *We need someone to draft a little something about ZB and Family. Knowing Pixy is pretty private, let's keep it sensitive to that. We were hoping taratru would do that for us? Please? *People to read through things and make sure everything is ligit *ADVERTISING! Once everything is set, let's get the word out.
I'll post the fancypants code for the image/link in my sig once we're all set.
Thanks all for your help and I really hope that we can get a good showing for ZB and Family.
Seriously, @elliearroway is awesome. She did the registration form, embedded it on the site, and it has a confirmation email and links to the donation page.
I'm on mobile so I haven't had a chance to look at the site, but I just wanted to say thanks to all of you that have worked so hard to put this together and make it seamless and accessible for everyone who wants to participate. You're all amazing.
Thank you all so much for doing this. It looks great, I clicked all the links short of registering (will wait until the site is officially done) and they all worked and looked wonderful.
Once this is done, I will do a blog about it, share it on my facebook, etc.
I think it looks great... I have a couple suggestions on the running races page. I'd convert the 3.5k distance to miles so folks actually know what that is. I'd also add some sort of wording to the intermediate distance so folks know that is in the ballpark of a 5k distance if they want to signup for an actual race that day.
This looks really great - thank you so much for organizing it! I do have a question about the registration page though: I'm wondering if "GBCN" should be on the "how did you hear about this event" part. I know a lot of people like to keep GBCN private and having it on the registration page will bring a lot of publicity to the message board. Just a thought.

I have no doubts that we will spread the word quickly, between all the bloggers, facebookers, tweeters, etc. I'll promote it with my running team. I'm sure everyone else on a team/club will too.

That was my idea- a lot of people from this forum will be signing up, and would otherwise be a complete stranger like others from outside the forum. I thought it would be neat to show her how many people from here are doing something for May 4th to support her.
I think keeping that stuff optional is fine. People can fill in to their comfort level.
Ok, had a chance to look at the site - well done ladies! I'm also voting for anonymity for board members, so making it optional to say you are a part of gbcn is ideal IMO. All of it is awesome.

Saying where you heard of the race and your GBCN name are not required fields, so people can skip them.

I guess I meant that having the name "GBCN" on there at all may bring a lot of traffic to the board - people might say "what the heck is that" and google it and find the community. It's fine though, no big deal.
