I was hoping to be able to run a WDW race in October of this year, but after H looked at his vacation balance, I don't think that is going to happen. I think that we can swing it next year though.
So, I am looking for another (or perhaps more than one) half this year. I'd like to keep it in the greater Bay Area.
My choices are:
Rock n Roll - San Francisco, San Jose, or both I did the San Jose 5 mile last year and wasn't too impressed with the organization of the race
Mermaid Series - East Bay I ran the Mermaid 10k in San Francisco last year and will run the 10 mile in San Francisco this year. I loved the race I did with them last year. It was super well organized and had a really fun atmosphere. The SF courses are beautiful. The East Bay course will not be all that special. I have run 4-5 5ks at the same park.
Santa Cruz Half Marathon - I was really disappointed with a 10k run I did last year by the same organizers (mostly because they didn't give out medals to the 10k runners, just the half). Plus I really felt that the 10k distance was just an afterthought, like a we'll just offer this to the poor schmucks who can't run a half type of thing. The Santa Cruz course should be beautiful.
Oakland Half Marathon - I have heard nothing but good things about the Oakland Running Festival. I have a 5k mud/obtacle course run two weeks before this race.
Which would you do? Most of these happen between April and May, so I think I'd need to register soon for any of them.
RnR SF appeals to me the most initially. Question though, is the Santa Cruz race the Sufer's Path? I think the half is maybe called something else though. Mid may? That looks like a beautiful course! I was just looking at it last night.
