There are other ways to do this, I find this the easiest.
This is for PC & Firefox. Give me a little time and I'll work out pictures for doing this in IE, which is not as easy.
1. Find the GIF you want to post.
Go to any GIF site and search around for the one you want. I went to giphy. I am going to insert this gif into this post. 2. Copy the link
In FIREFOX & WINDOWS
Right click on the GIF you want. You see this:
Click on "Copy image location" IN FIREFOX AND MAC
The steps are the same, but instead of "Copy image location" you want to select "Copy image URL"
IN IE AND WINDOWS
Right click on the GIF. You get this menu:
Select "Properties"
This pop up window appears:
Highlight the text where it says "Address (URL)" as in the picture above (from http to the .gif at the end, no more, no less). Use CTRL+C to copy the URL.
3. Come back to proboards
Open a reply or new post so you see: 4. Insert an image
Click this button:
It opens a dialog box like this:
In the IMAGE URL field, delete what is there and use Ctrl+V to paste the URL of the GIF into the dialog box. Select "Insert Image"

If you're doing it on a mac, when you right-click, you want to click on "Copy image URL" instead of "Copy image location." Other than that, it's the same.
