No, no, no. You're tired. You've been training hard, & all of the blood is in your legs instead of your brain, & you're not thinking very clearly. Did I mention that you're tired? You can do this, and you WILL do this faster than last time. My god, you trained for & completed an ironman. That training & endurance also helped your running, IT DID.
1. Does it matter if you're this "slow" ? (which I doubt you really are). You're out there training which is more than most. 2. Of course you're tired. You're training for a marathon! That's what a taper is for 3. Umm you are an IRONMAN. If you can run a marathon after biking and swimming I'm pretty sure you can beat your previous time.
All that being said, I get what you mean about feeling slow. It's been hard for me to get my normal pace back and seeing everyone post PRs when I know that's not going to happen for awhile for me
I thought all those things during my last long run except the ironman one. It was more, "I'd rather take a nap". It IS hard. That is one of the reasons it is great!
It is so damn hard sometimes! But you are amazing, and your body does incredible things. Imagine, you'll be completing a marathon by lunch time instead of dinner time!!
