It's that time of year again! Do those of you in international couples feel like you should probably sign up for marriage counselling every time the games roll around? I'm mostly kidding, but already the tension in our flat is palpable. Oddly enough, I have to be the only Canadian not to care about hockey, so he can have that one.

Not for the winter Olympics but we do get a bit competitive for the Summer Olympics and also for the World Cup even though the USA never does well in it.
I dont know if I am going to watch a lot of the winter Olympics this year. I just hope it goes smoothly for the athletes and for the fans.

Neither of us really care all that much, tbh. I'm not all 'rah-rah' about either of my countries of citizenship (US & UK) and DH is the same about the UK. I guess I cheer for both teams.

I'm the sports mad one in my house. DH really doesn't care about much other than cricket and tennis, which are two sports I really don't care about. But I am so excited for the Olympics! I love curling and I think I have to be for Norway, if only for the pants.

I love watching the Olympics , winter or summer. I don't get too serious about it though and neither does my DH. Of course the only winter sport the Dutch are any good at is speed skating. I like watching it but don't get too excited about it. The Dutch however, go CRAZY! I root for whomever I like, doesn't matter what nationality usually.
I just hope everything goes well and that the crazies leave the Olympics alone.
Not really. We get excited for both. I like mocking the German opening ceremony outfits. They are worse than the Americans. Better than the usual girls wear pink and boys where blue. But if you notice they still separate male and female with the hat color.
I love the Olympics, can't even explain why but I get weirdly patriotic during them. When they were in London last year I was off work a lot and watched hours and hours of totally random sports. I got really, really into the paralympics so I'm hoping to be able to watch some of that as well.
Luckily I don't have to worry too much about Brazil in the winter Olympics! Haha! Though SO jokingly dreams of representing Brazil in snowboarding next time (he's been to two lessons now).
For the summer Olympics, it's a bigger deal. But I'm not terribly nationalistic about the games, so if he's enthusiastic about an event for Brazil, I'm happy to support that.
Honestly, our biggest point of contention will be if Italy and Brazil play each other in the World Cup. (No, there is no sensible reason for me supporting Italy. It's just a weird tradition.) I guess if it comes down to it, I will support Brazil. Unless Italy plays really well, in which case I'll just pretend like I'm supporting Brazil.
