I'm putting together a pack list and I feel like I've forgotten something. Quick backstory/info: 24-hour relay swim, cold (51 degrees) salt water. Cold-ish outside air (55 high, 40 low overnight). 7 people on our relay, I'll be in the water 5x for less than half an hour each. About 4 hours between swims. There is a warmup sauna and there will be a warm/dry place to sleep. Will also have to do a couple volunteer shifts (kayak support, or kitchen duty, or whatever). Food will be provided, although I'm bringing some of my preferred pre-swim foods for myself.
*6 swimsuits (5 dry suits and a backup in case of total suit failure) *4 caps (2 silicone, 2 latex) *3 goggles (1 dark, 1 light, 1 extra) *swim parka *sweats/fleece leggings (3 pair) *sweatshirts (3) *socks (6 pair) *towels (6) *air mattress/pump *blankets (2) *beanie/gloves/fleece earwarmers *phone/charger/earphones *shower gear/change of clothes *nuun, clifs, bananas *water bottle/contigo
What am I forgetting? Yes, it's an outrageous list (6 towels???) but I feel like better too much stuff than not enough and wishing I had more.
Antifog stuff for goggles (whether you use baby shampoo or a specific product) Sports drink to get the salt water taste out of your mouth after each swim Vaseline (helps with warmth + chafing)
