I'm working my way through The Portable Dorothy Parker for my challenge. I'm now obsessed with Dorothy Parker and the Algonquin Round Table members!
I love her. Any time the phone rings when I'm in the middle of something, I say, "what fresh hell is this?" (And if I'm being honest? About 20 other times during the day sometimes.) We stayed at the Algonquin the last time we were in NYC, and I totally sat around drinking martinis in the lounge and pretending I was part of the Round Table.
I started Rachel Dratch's Girl Walks Into A Bar yesterday. I'm really enjoying it. I think I'm going to have to add her to my celebrity BFF posse, alongside Tina Fey, Amy Sedaris, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling. And now Amy P. really needs to write a book. (Well, a non-Pawnee book.)
I just started The House at Riverton for my book club and am loving it so far-- all like 38 pages in.
I'm listening to Dreamfever. I had a minor freak-out when I realized that the reader isn't the same one who read the first three Fever books (I adored her) and that there is some dude voicing the male characters. Still not happy about it, but dealing. The book itself is fantastic so far.
5kcandles- I totally have a plan to hit The Algonquin one of these days. A good friend of mine just got a new job that's literally right down the road from there. We're definitely planning a date of martinis just to say they went. I think I'm going to wait til later in the series when they mention Benchley, et al.
Have you read What Fresh Hell is This by Marion Meade (the same woman who edited The Portable Dorothy Parker)? I'm DYING to read it now.

I'm still reading Perfume: The Story of a Murderer. I struggled through Wuthering Heights and reading was not appealing to me. I've just now gotten back into the swing of reading.
I think it's called Backseat Saints by Joshilyn Jackson. I recently fell in love with her books since I've been really bad about reading and i can usually get through one in less than two days. Imoan - I loved that series - is it a reread? Garden of Shadows is my absolute favorite VC Andrews book.
Aimee- not a re-read! Some of the girls on TIP and I were discussing it recently and they couldn't believe I hadnt read it. So I read Flowers in the Attic and am now hooked.
Awesome! I'll be interested to hear what you think of the last one. I had a hard time getting into the middle ones for some reason. I think I had a hard time following - maybe I'll try them again.

Just finished Grace by T. Greenwood. Loved it. Halfway through Age of Miracles. Loving the story so far. Have Seating Arrangements on deck. Also just finished After Wife. Same author of The Starter Wife. It hasn't been released yet, but I received the galley of it and thought it was cute.

No, but I just ordered it for my Kindle. Thanks for the tip!
And I seriously loved the Algonquin - it was a typical NYC hotel, but it had such charm. I told my husband we're only ever staying there when we go to NYC.

My parents stayed there years ago... but I wasn't old (or smart) enough to realize I should've been jealous at the time!

I just finished "The Language of Flowers: A Novel" by Vanessa Diffenbaugh. I downloaded it on Saturday and finished it last night. I just could not put it down. It was such a good book.
