I'm obsessing about what I am going to wear (along with everything else for this marathon ) So if you are bored or want to share your knowledge, help me dress for the marathon! Here's the lowdown:
Avg temps: High-65, Low- 43
I wear compression socks when I run
I prefer to wear capri's (will I look silly w/compression socks/capris? And/or will I get too hot?)
I prefer to be warm over cold
The race starts at 7am
There has been rain on this course in previous years
I am struggling with the same thing. My temps will be cooler for sure, and I have never ran a full marathon but for you I think I would wear shorts, compression socks, and a long sleeve dry fit. You may even want to wear a short sleeve if it is on the warmer side and toss your long sleeve after a few miles. And pray for no rain.
Do you have an actual forecast yet? If not, I'd wait to see that.
No, I was just trying to make an educated guess so I could try to run in what I wanted to wear in case I needed to buy anything new but I'll solidify for sure when I get a forcast
I would definitely be warm in what you are describing. Even if the low IS 43, it's not going to be 43 when you start. If you run in compression socks, I'd do socks, shorts, tank, homemade arm warmers, and a visor.

Gotcha. In those temps, I'd definitely shorts and a tank with your compression socks. Maybe a short-sleeve rather than a tank would keep you a little warmer? I know you say you'd rather be warm, but 26.2 is a looooong time to be too hot, and being too hot is going to hurt your performance a lot more than being a little chilly.
I ran MCM at end of october - it started with temps in the low 40s and warmed up to about 60, but was overcast most of the race. I was fine in a singlet, shorts, and arm warmers Hope that helps! It's better to be a little cold in the beginning than to overheat a few miles in - it will make for a very LONG race

If the temps are going to be in the 40's and 50's for most of the race, I'd do capris or shorts with compression socks on the bottom. Up top, I'd wear a short sleeved short and throw-away gloves. You don't want your fingers to be all stiff and frozen when you try to open a gel, tie a shoe, use the bathroom, etc. You'll probably be able to toss them near the end though.
Perfect. I guess I am going to have to work on liking my shorts better/finding some that are cuter, lol. I really like longer shorts, they are just not very flattering.

My absolute favorite marathon shorts are the LLL groovy run shorts. They can hold so much crap, you don't even need a fuel belt.

Om, I think I am going to LLL tonight. I think these could work!

Do it! Lol. I have this pair of LLL compression shorts that were only out for a few months, and the fit is slightly funky (a little tight) but they have the 3 pocket waistband plus a huge pocket on the side of each leg. I wish they'd come out with something similar again because they are perfect marathon/long run shorts.

Bring fuel with you! My LLL is used to us bringing it in and seeing how much we can cram into the pockets. I didn't take this much with me at the marathon, but those shorts will hold 5 gels and a pack of cheez-its. LOL!

Remind me where your marathon is ?
Beautiful Albany, GA. Not very exotic but it's supposed to be a good course and all the ones in Atlanta are super hilly. Not what I wanted for my first marathon. I'll deal with the hills another time.

That's supposed to be a GREAT course! I should have picked a more sensible race like that, but ya know, I had no idea what I was getting into with marathon training
You know GA weather-it's hard to say what the weather will be like that weekend! March 13, 1993 we had a blizzard here!

Yep, so I am trying to not to think about what I am going to where until the week of the race.
