This morning my alarm went off at 4:27AM. Yikes! It was 25 degrees. Ouch! Windchill made it feel like 20. Yikes and Ouch! And I ran 22 miles in it! BAM! Longest run ever! My long runs are typically on Friday mornings when the kids are in preschool but we are jet setting this weekend to balmy Boston so it was either today or not do it. And I did it! I felt pretty good, better than last weekend's 20 miler and after this weekend (still have an easy 4 miler, and a 10 miler with 8@gmp), I will be tapering! I can't believe I survived the last 2 weeks.
After new years, I decided I was going to deal with the winter weight proactively, and lose it BEFORE I start HIM training, so I'm not asking my body to do 2 things at once in the spring. Last year I thought I could lose the weight during HIM training. I was disappointed when I only lost ~5 of the ~10 lbs between starting weight and what I consider "race weight."
This year I started around the same place. So far I've lost 4 lbs. I'm essentially the same weight now that I was by race day last year, and I still have a month to lose more before I even start my training plan.
Losing weight sucks and is difficult and all that, but I am proud of myself for doing it anyway.
I'm going to AW my husband: He's been working out and eating right for about 3 weeks now and has lost 9 lbs already! I'm so proud of him. He's never been overweight but he's been getting a bit of a belly (his words, not mine) and the extra weight has caused his snoring to get worse, so he knows he needs to get in better shape. He's doing great and I'm so proud of him.
He also signed up for a dualthlon in May (same race location as my first sprint tri of the season). I can't wait for him to reach that finish line. =)

Who else has an AW they need to celebrate?
Okay, you're officially badass! I can't believe you ran 22 miles in 25 degree weather - that's incredible!!
My hips and hip flexors are feeling much better thanks to me not teaching as many classes per week. I am glad that I have a team I can trust in my place!

You are awesome! And I need to say thanks because reading about your run made me get off my butt and get mine in. Only 5 miles, but a frigid feels like temp of 16. My coldest to date!

You are awesome! I didn't even get up to do my 5 this morning!
I kicked the sh!t out of a huge hill this past Sunday at the end of my longest run to date (8.5 miles). This hill makes me tired driving up it in my car- I never thought I'd be able to run it with no problem!

If he's as strong willed his big sister, then I'm in trouble when the toddler years roll around. Otherwise I've hit the jackpot with both kids, as far as easy babies go. DS has STTN all week and just has such a happy, easy-going demeanor (I hope I'm not jinxing myself here).
