I figured I'd make a post with updates throughout, in case anyone is interested.
So far I've done two laps. My first lap, I got off course badly and wound up swimming sort of a star trek design and took me 25 minutes. Second lap was much better. I did that one in about 20 minutes.

So far so good. Finished my third lap. Water is beginning to feel cold (er). Weather sucks. Rain, wind, and random chop. All that to say, I'm having a pretty darn good time.

4th lap was my first night swim ever. I was much more comfortable than I thought I would be in the dark,and the water actually felt warmer than the 3rd lap.
Sorry these updates are so choppy, I'm kind of distracted at the moment. I'll try to put together an actual report on Monday, when I'm not distracted and exhausted. Lol.
Holy cow! How far is one lap? Howany laps will you swim? How many people are on your relay team?
One lap is about 3/4 of a mile. Best guess right now is that I'll do 7 laps. Maybe 8. There are 7 people on our team. A lot will depend on on how fast we all swim.

Heading out on lap 6. Turns out i was overheated, not hypothermic, from putting too many clothes on. Derp. So yeah ... the second I took all my extra layers off, I was good.

Well, I'm done, clean, and on the way out of the city. Total was 7 laps, approximately 5 miles swum. I'm freaking exhausted and sore, and now it's like my previously light duffel bags weigh about 400 pounds apiece. The walk from the bay to the muni stop was like 3 blocks but felt more like 3 miles. Lol.
Anyhow, I'm tired and rambling, so I will try to gather my thoughts for a decent post tomorrow.
