I did a half over the weekend. For background, my first half back in '09 was my PR, at 1:57. Since then, all my halfs (4 others) have been over two hours (due to them bring trail runs, or on ice, or lack of training).
I was thinking I would come in around 2:05 on this race, given my training runs. I started of a teeny bit fast at 5:45 per km. I kept planning on dropping down to 6:00 min/km, but I felt really good the whole time and never ended up needing to. In the end, I came in at 1:59 and change.
This race was also on a combo of pavement and packed snow and it was about -5F the whole time.
I have another HM at the end of April (that should be on pavement!). Given another two months of training and the different conditions, I should be able to PR!
One funny thing, I ran for about 20 minutes during the second half thinking that I was actually going to PR. Then I remembered that there are 21 km in a HM, not 20 km. That was slightly disappointing to realize, lol.
Woah! Going sub 2 in -5 degrees plus snow is crazy bad ass! Pretty sure I'd have stayed under the covers. Even the difference between teens and upper twenties is huge on my pace. I don't do single digits. Congrats!

I may be crazy with abilities to run in the cold, but I am an extreme wuss in the heat. I don't run nearly as much in the summer because I feel like I'm dying once it hits the 70's.
