I'm working my way through NROLFW and wear a Polar HR monitor. During some of the exercises (mostly lunges, step-ups and the body weight matrix) my heart rate gets really high and my HRM starts flashing like crazy.
Is there any reason to slow down during that set or not let it get that high in the first place? Or should I finish out the set at my current pace and then rest/let my HR lower before starting the next set?
How high are we talking? I found this which seem to be a good consistent way to see what is an acceptable high range for your HR during exercise.
"The easiest way to figure your maximum heart rate is to subtract your age from 220. Once you know this number, you can determine a good heart rate for your next exercise session"
Also, I'd kind of gauge it by how your feeling. While the HR monitor may be flashing that its high, if its in and ok range and you feel fine (you know, not faint, weak, etc), go ahead and finish your set. And maybe give yourself a few extra seconds to rest before moving to the next set. Just listen to your body. Its usually pretty good about letting you know when it needs a breaks.

How do you feel? I'd go more by that. I had a friend who walked during her tri one time because her HRM said her heartrate was super high. She said she felt fine and not even out of breath. They are a good tool but like any other machine are subject to be a little off at times

It will get into the high 180's. I feel very out of breath and maybe a little dizzy towards the end of the set but I recover ok and am not seeing tunnel vision or anything like that.
