I bought something on a groupon-type website. (It was direct shipped from China, total cost of $23). The item is defective. The company initially offered me the option of a) keep the item and get a credit for the full amount, or b) send the item to them at my own cost, for a cc refund.
I said that I didn't like either of those options, and their website said they'd pay return shipping if the return was result of their error.
They then offered to c) give me a cc refund for the item + a $10 credit to reimburse me for shipping. Shipping will cost $5-7.
I don't know that I would ever buy from this website again and want to push them to reimburse me the actual shipping cost on my cc vs a credit.
But for $5, I don't know how much effort I want to put into it. It just bugs me that I am going to be out any money for a defective item.

I understand your issue with it - but my time would be worth more than the $5, that's not even counting the time it would take you to package and ship it back.

If I'm reading this correctly (I may have started drinking already) that C = complete refund + money for shipping. Yeah I get it sucks but I'm not sure what else you expect to get. If I'm reading incorrectly.... sorry.

But the only way I will get any cash refunded on my cc is to mail it back. Otherwise, they are only offering a store credit.

I get a complete refund + a $10 credit to use on future purchases. I would have to pay for the shipping myself to send it back. They are giving me a future credit to compensate for that.
I'd just contact groupon directly at this point to get all your money back and be done
It was purchased directly from the `groupon-like` company (a Canadian company called tastygo.com). They are who I am currently dealing with. They will only give me my money back in the form of a credit, unless I pay to ship the item back.
