I just signed up for my first 10k, and first trail run. Is there anything special I should do to train aside from the obvious running trails and/or getting miles in? It's on May 3, if that makes a difference.
Strength drills. Particularly lateral movement. I just did a trail 10k and my ankles were so sad after. Not injured but definitely could have use some strenght in that area. Good luck!
Look down. A typical race you can enjoy the surroundings but a trail race you need to focus on the steps ahead. One wicked tree route can put you on your ass. And enjoy the camaraderie of the day. Trail runners are so much fun! You'll do great Put in some miles and don't do the trails alone if its new to you.
