I am not fashionably inclined, and I'm fairly lower-middle class, so perhaps I'm ignorant, jaded, and bitter. It's entirely possible.
Louis Vuitton-- this stuff: Attachment Deleted I can appreciate the shape, and I don't find it so ugly, per se. But a FB friend-- who brags on FB all the time-- posted a pic of her kids eating at the airport before they go on their "fancy" (that's her word) vacation. There are at least four giant LV travel bags (satchels?) that I can count in the photo.
Is there any reason to have more than one of these bags, other than to say, "look how much money we have?!?"
Feel free to tell me that I clearly just don't get it.
Unless they are flying private charter to their "fancy vacation" those bags are most likely fake. Their travel bags (like small-ish handled bags) are over $1,000.
This is the same friend who bought her (8yo) daughter a "starter" Coach bag. I'm fairly certain that these are not knock offs. (Eta: there is a LV store downtown, and she's posted about going there a few times.)

I have a co-worker who bought her 10 year old daughter a Dooney.
Daughter lost the purse the next day.
Yeah, I don't get it. I myself, didn't even get into designer bags until about a year ago. I still feel guilty about my Marc Jacobs blowout but I love it sooo much so it's all good, LOL.

I have nice bags but fly coach.
This whole thread is bizarre to me. Granted, this woman sounds obnoxious so I'm guessing she's showing them off, but some people like Louis Vuitton and for some people bags aren't a huge deal that need to say something. Maybe you just like them.

Lol, I don't buy really expensive purses anymore (actually, I never bought my expensive bags myself anyway), but I actually wear the few I have WHILE FLYING COACH.

My sister bought me a LV Neverfull for my 30th birthday!! I love it and carry it everywhere. But I do worry that people think I'm carrying a fake.
Attachment Deleted Also, I don't spend a lot of money on my clothes. I try to buy things that look classic, but I spend more on my accessories (shoes and purses). The majority of my outfit will be from Target or Old Navy and the most expensive part of my ensemble is usually my bag or my bra (because I do not go cheap with those).

She posts about going to the store, her fancy vacation, and her bags. She sounds insufferable. Ignore her. I doubt she has as much money as she is trying to portray he has, and if she does, she has no class.

This is totally incorrect. I know plenty of people who have saved for very long periods of time to buy bags in the $3-$5k range. It doesn't necessarily mean they can afford "luxury" in their every day lives, or even at most any other time. Some people truly work hard and save in order to buy something special to them.
I think it's weird to spend it on bags, but that's me.
I assume those people would think it's weird how much I spend on books.
I spend an obscene amount of money on books, too. I have no shame.
I don't think the bag is that ugly. I mean, it's NMS but I can appreciate that it's a designer bag. ONE of them makes sense to me. The picture of her kids eating McDonalds at the airport surrounded by four giant LV bags, though, seems so brag-gy to me that I'm kind of embarrassed for her.
I have no dog in the coach / private charter / first class fight, LOL.

This is ridiculous. There are a lot of people who aren't private chartered plane rich that have expensive luggage. I guarantee that a lot of it is not fake.

I prefer using my cheapass luggage from JC Penney. It's the ugliest plain black rectangular-luggage with wheels.
I just can't imagine having the LV trunk and checking it in. Airports handle luggage in a pretty rough way therefore I can only see having expensive stuff as carryons.
But hell, we're talking how many LV bags here as carryons? Yikes.
I have always thought it's ugly. When I found out that it was actually expensive designer stuff, I thought the designer was secretly giving everyone who bought it the finger--like "I can make you buy really expensive, butt-ugly stuff because it has my initials on it."
