My 11 year old Aussie mix, Cricket, has been dealing with heart problems over the past 8 months. We started her on benazepril last July and added furosemide in December. She was declining, so I took her back to the vet last week. We switched her benazepril to Vetmedin. I can't believe how much better she got after just a few days. However, at the vet's office, it's about $100 for 25 days worth (it comes in 50 count bottles). None of the pharmacies in town can fill it because it's not a human medication.
I've found prices around $60 online at KV Vet Supply and Drs. Foster and Smith. Does anyone have any experience with these pharmacies?
A second issue... Cricket has been having lots of accidents in the house, mostly overnight. I'm home with her during the day, so I can let her out frequently. The vet suggested we move her second furosemide dose to earlier in the day. In addition, DH usually wakes up during the night and lets her out then, but we're still having issues. Of course, she pees on the carpet mere feet from a tile floor. Other than buying stock in Nature's Miracle, do you have any suggestions?
Update: despite her apparent improvement, Cricket passed away 2/23

We had a Rottie who needed a lot of medication to treat encephalitis. We got her medication from Diamondback Drugs www.diamondbackdrugs.com/ They were recommended by her neurologist, but they were cheaper and were able to formulate her medication, which for us was a big deal. She had a very poor appetite and getting her meds in was such a chore. They took her from 27 pills a day down to 7 by being able to formulate her dosage into one pill instead of 10.
