Sooo....*someone* (secretlyevil) put the Space Coast bug in my ear. Looks fun. I have a friend in Cocoa who I think would put me up, so it would only cost a plane ticket and race fee. Haven't some of you run it? How is it?
More importantly, think I can be ready in November? I've figured out it's intensity that really gets my Achilles burning, so I can use the months between now and July to just build a solid base of mileage with no speed and hopefully find some speed that works by the time I need it. Does this sound crazy? Or just stupid? Or just something I should do?
Don't ask vtcupcake. I haven't run it, but I have mostly heard positive things about it. The only thing that gives me pause is that I have had way more warm Thanksgivings in FL than cool ones. This past year it sucked that weekend, but the year before, it was gorgeous. It's a crap shoot time of year.
Another popular race for a BQ is Jacksonville Bank. Maybe not as scenic (pretty residential) & no fun theme, but flat & fast. A lot of people BQ. I'd trust the weather in N FL in December more than a few hours south in November. Although you can see from my sig pic that this past year it poured. Lol I'd put you up for that one.
Duke City is a flat, fast BQer…cheap flights on SW - guest bed available at my house!
JK, i know it isn't very "destination" and it's high altitude. But it would be fun for ME! ha.
Stupid altitude! I think I'd actually be going UP! Buuuut....the website says they'll pay your Boston registration if you qualify and are in the top 25?!?!? The 10th place woman last year ran a BQ time for me. I wonder how big it will get...

Oh, man...that would be cool, heading back to Jacksonville... and it's a month later, which would give me more time... and only $65?!?! Goodness.

Yes!! That is correct! And it may be slightly higher. But the changing leaves in New Mexico, swoon! Views of the sandias! Running along the river! Kams with signs under the highway! Just imagine it! Let your nose smell the roasting chiles and your mouth taste a sloppy plate of flat enchiladas, Christmas style!

See ya in Oct!

Ooooo, girl....you know how to tempt me. It's not too hot? (I've been gone too long) And where does the course go? The map is "coming soon" on the website.

Doooo ittttt! It might be a low frills race, but it comes with a clseale cheering section! Plus, it's small enough that I could totally jump in during later miles to keep you company, AND I show up with finish line beer & mimosas!
taratru, as much as I totally think you should come to Jax (ignore adorable kams & her food bribery!), have you considered CIM? It historically has over a 20% BQ rate w/a gradual net downhill.

It's out and back, 90% on the bosque path. You start on 3rd & tijeras downtown, run through the Abq country club neighborhood, and then catch the bosque. The half turns around early on the bosque - it's my half pr. Weather was beautifully comfortable the last few years - I think I've always worn shorts and a tank and taken arm warmers off at the start. I actually jogged to and from the start/finish from my house this year.
It's fun, but it isn't a mega race. Bigger than ims AZ though.

Also, they close central - it's sort of fun to run down there in the middle of the street, lol. But it's pretty brief.
Idk, it isn't some incredible race. Its good, but it's not the absolute most scenic or fastest. zoidberg and I will take you to the coolest taqueria ever though!

taratru sure you can! I mean, I signed up for the half and I'm still not even cleared to run yet! And we could meet up for more than 30 seconds this time.

I loved that IMS race, though, and it wasn't big or pretty. DH says, "Abq would be cool...and it's cheap." Ha!

You've got a smart cookie.
You know, maybe this is my inexperience talking, but I think that you put so much into fulls that you sort of connect with any course because it's taken so much out of you, ya know? If you don't love it, you can appreciate and respect it. I remember IMS & Tucson really vividly and fondly, and neither were particularly special.
Hi! I have a lovely guest room, and in case you missed it above, I bring beer & mimosas to finish lines. Plus....FL is December! How cold is it where you're at right now??
taratru, I have two guest rooms, so don't think that the above offer was me giving up on you!
