My 9 year old chihuahua mix has woken up the last two nights, crying and howling and very upset. The other night I thought maybe she had a bad dream or something, but then she did it again last night. When I went to pet and pick her up to comfort her after waking her, she went completely limp in my arms. It scared me so bad
She's eating fine, drinking fine, going potty fine...but, my husband started a new job last week and now after a few months of having someone around almost 24/7, she has several hours in the day when she is alone. Maybe that's the cause? She doesn't seem to be in pain, but I don't know...it's just bugging me that two nights in a row she woke up like that and it really scared me how limp she went when I picked her up. She perked up after a few minutes of cuddling, but still.
Should I just keep an eye on her, or does this warrant a vet visit?

I would take her to the vet just to be on the safe side, but admittedly I am overly cautious about things. At least maybe call them and see if they think she needs to come in?
Hopefully someone else will chime in. It's pretty dead around here lately.

That is really strange, I would call your vet to see what they think. The only thing I can think of might be a seizure, but it could just be the change in routine upsetting her.
