After yesterday's race and seeing how I can never break my goddamn PR, I may be breaking up with it. I like running (for a mile) but I do not love it anymore.
I have a couple of races that I signed up with my sister which I will still do. After that, I am done. Please tell me there is life after running. Not that it was my whole life but it was a part of my routine.
I felt really guilty when I quit running last August in favor of CrossFit. But, the fact was that I just never loved it. I did it because it was cheap, convenient, and kept me in good shape. I enjoyed racing, but not training. I still like reading about other people doing it, and I might come back to it someday, but I don't miss it. I felt guilty about backing out of a few races, but my heart just wasn't in it, at all. Once I started CrossFitting, I just could not drag myself onto the treadmill for one more mile.
CrossFit just clicked for me. I LOVE going. I have never loved exercising in my life. I get my ass out of bed at 5 am, happily, several times a week, which I never in a million years would have done for running. I'm in great shape, I've made friends, I can see progress, and I'm so happy I quit running. It's a lot healthier for me in the sense that running was kind of a chore, whereas CrossFit is something I get excited to do.
Is there something else you love doing? Experimentation is fun.
Thank you for the reassurance. I am in the same boat as it was cheap, convenient, and kept me in good shape. I am just tired of the training and I do not have the heart as I used.
I loved boot camp. I did it about 6 mos before my wedding as a way to get in shape before then but then I stuck with it for 2 more years. The only reason I stopped is the costs.
I would love, love to do Crossfit. Only problem, there is none near me. :-(. Crossfit sounds like so much fun!
I will have to experiment and I agree that is the fun part.
and congrats on baby boy...I know you had a bunch of names picked out on MM. Has it been narrowed down yet? How are the animals doing?

If you like bootcamp style stuff, you'd love CrossFit. They're popping up all over now, so hopefully one will open near you soon! Do they still have bootcamp classes around you? You should go back! But then again, I'm an enabler, and I refuse to be MM when it comes to H&F stuff. IMO, it's too important in the long run. There are a lot of good bootcamp-style DVDs and programs out there, too--maybe a P90X or Insanity, if you can't do the classes?
And thanks! We are still waffling on names. It's mostly my fault. I don't feel ready to commit yet.
I may have to look and see if there is a box nearby. You are right, they are popping all over the place. I am going to look for other bootcamp classes or try the P90X. I agree, I am not very MM when it comes to H&F but then again, I refuse to :-) :Y:
Love, love that pic!!! I am sure once you see your son, that the perfect name will fit.
My love of running goes in spurts. I have run in a couple months and have opted for different forms of excerise. I am sure I will get back into eventually.

There is life after running!
I recently gave up running for CrossFit as well. I thought I loved running, but then I met CrossFit, and it was over between running and I. **wipes tear** I still run on occasion, but CrossFit is my true love, now.

This. I have broken up with running over the summer bc its TOO damn hot here in texas! BUt I will run again in the fall. But only 3 times a week, one easy run, one tempo run, and one long run. I will do a couple of 1/2 marathons and another marathon. BUt I might break up with it after my marathon, we will see
break up with running if you want, it's not for everyone and you should find exercise you enjoy, but maybe you just need a break.
I haven't run a PR race in a long time. I'm stuck at this plateau and I was getting pretty discouraged. so I'm taking a break. I'm just starting to get back to business (sort of).
