What is on the agenda for today? How was your weekend?
i was supposed to go out to lunch today but my LO woke up with a fever so now she is sleeping beside me on the bed. Last week she had a seizure because of a fever so I am worried it might happen again. Gave her some meds. Hope the fever goes down.
qotd: are you giving up anything for lent? Do you celebrate carnaval?

Today was a fairly average Monday, some housework and laundry, and then I made pretzel dogs for dinner, so the afternoon was spent watching my dough rise. I talked to my Mom for a while -- we were watching the Olympics and I was checking on things there. The weekend was all Olympics all the time! I love the Olympics and will feel lost next week when they are finished. I am seriously loving the 24-hour a day coverage here -- it's so nice to have interesting stuff on during the day.
QOTD: I am giving up being online during the day for Lent. I have been relying on that too much and while it seems silly, it will really be a sacrifice. I am going to allow myself to be online until 9 in the morning, and then after the dinner dishes are done for an hour. Allowances will be made for Skype calls to my Mom and silly games on my phone with her. Yes, I know lame.
Not Carnaval, but certainly Mardi Gras. I already have plans for a King Cake to share with my in-laws and some individual King Cake Scrolls to share with my tap class, which meets on Monday nights -- in fact the second class of the term will be Lundi Gras. I need to get the King Cake ordered for my goddaughter whose birthday is March 7; I'm sending an early present to her. It works beautifully with my tradition of sending my BFF King Cakes.
Hello. been a hectic morning today as it's the first day of the academic year. all the students are back now. luckily, it's quieted down a bit.
QOTD: I never used to give up things, because I never found something that felt like a sacrifice. But now I try to not allow any indulgent purchases. No clothes, no treats at the grocery store, no goodies wherever. It's a nice little reminder of how many "whim" purchases I make.

Morning! Happy Monday!
Weekend was good! Made some homemade pizza for Valentine's day and watched some Downton with DH :-) Then Saturday, we watched Dallas Buyers Club and Philomena. Loved both of them! Two more to go next week and we'll have seen all 9 best picture noms!
I'm at work today, and teach Zumba tonight, then home to relax. Looking forward to that!!!!
QOTD: I don't even know when Lent starts! That's the cons of living in a Muslim country I suppose.
I used to give things up for Lent, but remember hearing a sermon where they suggested instead of giving something up, we should make a change to do something positive. So if I do anything for Lent, it's usually something like that - whether it's trying to call my family more often, or just doing one good deed every day. We'll see. I need to find out when Lent actually starts :-P
Nope, no celebrating Carnaval here. Sounds like fun though!
Our weekend was nice. For V day I also made home made pizza, and we watched The Following and a comedy show. The rest of the weekend was mostly laziness. I went to see some of Marilyn Manson's water colors on display at the museum, went to the farmers market, did laundry and DH and I played Yahtzee and watched Wolf of Walstreet.
Today I need to do some chores that have been lingering. I doubt I get any writing done.
Morning. I feel somewhat sleep deprived, despite dd2 STTN (7.30pm to 7am). It was an hour earlier than recently. Not sure if both girls will make it through the day unscathed.... (Dh went to work before 8 this morning and will likely stay there till as late as he thinks he can get away with). I've a sore throat that is keeping me awake at night.
Weekend was fine. Lovely steak dinner on Friday night. Saturday was uneventful - I did a bit of work, my brother and SIL called over. Sunday dh brought dd1 swimming and then to his parents house. We went to my nephew's birthday in the afternoon.
QOTD: don't really do anything. We'll make pancakes on shrive Tuesday but that's about it.

Hi! I got a new job! It won't start until March17th, but I'm so relieved to have a steady income we can depend on. I's 2 pay grades below what I'm qualified for, but it's a position I think I'll be good at and it has the potential to become a permanent contract (they've submitted the petition to the university, but it's always difficult to get new permanent positions funded), which is awesome. Plus I'll be able to work at home some days, which I also really appreciate.
QOTD: I used to give things up for Lent but also didn't really find it much of a sacrifice. Maybe I will do something this year, though. I don't do anything for Carneval.
BFP1: DD born April 2011 at 34w1d via unplanned c/s due to HELLP, DVT 1 week PP
BFP2: 3/18/12, blighted ovum, natural m/c @ 7w4d
BFP3: DD2 born Feb 2013 at 38w3d via unplanned RCS due to uterine dehiscence
Not much going on here. I went to work, then I took DD for a run in the stroller. I saw my neighborhood running group out on the trail and chatted with them, but it was all dudes and they look like "serious" runners so I didn't even attempt to finish my run with them. Kinda bummer that it wasn't a sociable group of ladies. I saw the group on Meetup and I was hoping I would make some running girlfriends. No dice.
DD has been waking up at 4ish every morning wanting to come to my bed. Ugh. She doesn't sleep in my bed though, she just climbs on me and sings at the top of her lungs. No fun.
QOTD: I don't do lent, so no. I should participate and give up white chocolate though. I eat super healthy except for consuming a massive white chocolate candy bar every 2-3 days. #healthyeatingfail
I like carnival, but I have a feeling it is a no-go in Dubai. They bleep out any reference to alcohol (and pork) on TV here (interestingly all of the traditional swear words are ok), so it isn't exactly party central here. ETA: I was obviously thinking carnival was some crazy party a la Mardi Gras. I wasn't thinking pancakes.

Hi there, it's a holiday here and so I have the day off. I'm not on here for long but I've been pretty active with various things today.
QOTD: I don't give up anything for Lent and I don't celebrate Carnival in any religious sense. I have eaten pancakes on Pancake Day before. If I'm somewhere in which there's a local custom around it then I'll probably check that out but no, I don't personally do anything.
