I joined the local YMCA and have been going for a couple months. I feel like I am in a rutt. I try to work out 3-4 days a week.
Here is what I do currently, its all cardio as i have no clue what to do when it comes to all of those machines! 30 minutes on Cybex Arc 20 minutes on treadmill - alternating walk 2 minutes run 5 minutes.
Does your Y have classes? Mine has a great variety of things; TRX, barre, circuit training, boxing, body pump etc. all about 60 minutes. It's a great way to challenge yourself and switch things up.
Also, def. hit the weights. The trainers are great at the Ys and will show you how to use any machine you have questions about.
I would definitely incorporate lifting. Maybe see if they have any classes that offer resistance training or a trainer that can show you the ropes on the equipment?
I just started the Jamie Eason Livefit program through bodybuilding.com (Would paste the link but its blocked at work.) I have done it before but fell off the wagon at week 6. It is a great straight forward way to get you started on weights and to help strengthen. I plan on incorporating that in the morning along with elliptical/running.
