Does she have a college degree? I'd say $16-$18/hr for full time. Time and a half for anything over 40 hrs (required by law). If she's guaranteed 45+ hrs/week including over time, I'd be more inclined to go on the lower end.
We give our nanny 2 weeks pd leave plus "reasonable" sick leave and all federal holidays. No other benefits.
Those are long hours. She is looking at 52.5 hrs a week. I would ask for a 17/hr or 900/week.
I'd ask for a week paid, one week at half rate, reasonable sick time, and federal holidays.
17/hr would be almost $1000/week because they SHOULD (legally) be paying 1.5 time for 12.5 hrs week. Lots of families try not to and/or don't understand that they have to.
We are MCOL. We pay our college educated, Praxis having nanny $16/hr over the table for 1 toddler who is in school 8 hrs/ week. We guarantee 40 hours and many weeks she works less due to offset schedules between my H and I. She started at $15/hr. She gets 2 weeks paid vacation (1 if our choice, 1 of hers), 7 sick days paid as a bonus if she does not use them and 3 use-it-or-lose-it personal days. She gets 7 paid holidays/year. We pay (as is legal) time and a half for hours over 40.
I was surprised that 3 of my cousins who are in VHCOL areas (NYC, DC, Westchester) pay nearly identical to us. Maybe $1-2/hr more for an additional kid. Their nannies may not have exactly he same qualifications, but the nber of applicants was HUGE for their area. Like 150 for one care.com ad.
