for my back. OUCH. It wasn't my traps, but my rotator cuff and sub-scapular something or other. Nearly impossible to get to, apparently. She did a bunch of work on it, but it's still hurting. All I can think of is that I did something to it last week during lifting, but I don't remember doing anything new.
Anyway, it helped, but it still hurts like a mofo. So, like a good girl, I took the day off and am medicating with a cocktail. Oh, and I also signed up for the yearly massage membership thingy, so I'm getting at least one a month. That's totally good for my running, right?
Massage is great for sore muscles! If you can go back in a week or so to get another, it could really help. I have chronic neck and shoulder pain, and massage is the only thing that helps. (Well that and watching my posture at the computer.)
i go once a week but it's ran through insurance. and even when i reach my allotment, i pay the same rate as my co-pay.
WINNING.
I have learned though, with the help of Groupon, that there is such a thing as a bad massage -- so now I really really appreciate my therapists, cost aside. I never thought a massage could be bad until I had a few!

So very true. My first massage was a therapy massage so the namy pamby massages do nothing for me. So if I do a last minute massage and get someone who just gives me a nice regular massage, they do nothing for me.
I always look at people oddly when they tell me how jealous they are that I get massages on the regular. I'm like, DUDE, these aren't relaxing. I get beat on!
Does anyone know if it's possible to get a family doctor (our PCP) to write a "prescription" for massages and then we could run the massage expense through our HSA? I was thinking about asking about this when I go in for my annual physical in a few months. Is this an allowed HSA expense if you have a prescription?

When I had an HSA, my chiropractor just wrote that I needed massage. I guess that was a prescription? I think she still does this even though I don't have a HSA anymore.
I have scoliosis so that is the determining factor that I "need" massages.
