1) Date/name of your Half! Nike Women's Half 4/27 (and Andrew Jackson Half, but I'm using this one as a "training run")
2) Are you following a training "plan"? Which one and why did you choose it? Mileage from Pfitzinger and speed work from HH. How the heck was I supposed to run all of Pfitzenger's workouts on grass when we've had snow on the ground for months?
3) What's the longest run you will run as part of your training? 13.1
4) What is the farthest you've ever run? 26.2 - Philadelphia Marathon

1) Date/name of your Half! Christie Clinic University of Illinois Half
2) Are you following a training "plan"? Which one and why did you choose it? Yes, a local running club's training plan. I've done the beginner one in the past and liked it, now I've moved up to the intermediate and it's helping a lot with my speed.
3) What's the longest run you will run as part of your training? 12
4) What is the farthest you've ever run? 26.5 miles- Chicago Marathon. Tangents aren't so easy on that course.
I'd say you did a pretty damn good job with the tangents. I ran 26.7 and I was actually paying attention. I probably logged close to 27 at NYCM because I was paying zero attention.
I really felt like I nailed most of them the best I could, so to still be over by 3/10 probably proves that it's not the best course for that. (Obviously, with the really wide streets & 40k+ people. lol) When my hamstring started acting up, finding & nailing tangents became my obsession to distract me. lol
FWIW, I looked at the Nike training plans and I think they're bullshit. There's minimal rhyme or reason to their mileage rampup, weeks without XT or strength sessions, and I"m sorry but I"m not running 10mi in the middle of the week for the intermediate training plan.
I may have sent a nasty letter to Nike telling them that their training plans are crap. I think their beginner plans had too many miles, especially race week. The wrote me back and suggested I could switch out one week for cross training. Um, thanks, I'm not using your plans, I just hope first time 1/2ers don't get injured because of all the miles y'all suggest they run.
Heh great customer service right there! I might be a noob when it comes to running, but I was a competitive swimmer and equestrian (eventually dropped swimming to focus on horses) so at least I know better than to push through something that might not be good but I totally agree that the Nike plan is packed with miles and not much strength.
2) Are you following a training "plan"? Which one and why did you choose it? It's called the "increase mileage or else you will be a horribly out of shape backup pacer" plan. I chose it because that's what I have time for.
3) What's the longest run you will run as part of your training? Ideally, 12 miles. We'll see if that happens. 4) What is the farthest you've ever run? 13.1 miles
2) Are you following a training "plan"? Which one and why did you choose it? No plan, just doing long runs so that I add 1 mile each week to reach 13 miles two weeks prior to the race
3) What's the longest run you will run as part of your training? 13 miles
4) What is the farthest you've ever run? 26.2 miles
2) Are you following a training "plan"? Which one and why did you choose it? Don't know the name of it but it was a longer plan that built up mileage more slowly. I took a break from running so I needed to be eased back in. Also adding in lots of cross training and strength training this time. I think it's helped, I've been feeling great.
3) What's the longest run you will run as part of your training? 12
4) What is the farthest you've ever run? I've hobbled 13.1 before...
2) Are you following a training "plan"? Which one and why did you choose it? Hal Higdon Novice 1. Worked for me last time, so I figured I'd use it again.
3) What's the longest run you will run as part of your training? 9 or 10.
4) What is the farthest you've ever run? Half-marathon in October

1) Date/name of your Half! May 18th Cellcom (half) Marathon
2) Are you following a training "plan"? Which one and why did you choose it? Using a combo of HH Novice 2 & intermediate. I used the Novice 2 for my first half and was happy with it. I wanted to add in strength training and more speed work to hit my time goal. I tweaked it a little since I will have a two week break in the middle due to a vacation.
3) What's the longest run you will run as part of your training? 12.5

Sorry I'm just coming in. I spent most of the day in a fog and went to bed very early last night.
1) Date/name of your Half!
Run the Bluegrass 3/29
2) Are you following a training "plan"? Which one and why did you choose it?
I'm using Hal Higdon's Novice 2 plan. I tried an intermediate plan that the race organizers had developed, but it was too much since I really didn't keep up with my base once Thanksgiving hit. I used HH's N2 for my first half, and it worked well for me.
3) What's the longest run you will run as part of your training?
Maybe March 8th??? Chambersburg Half. Anyone run it before? I'm trying to decide b/w a half, 10k, or 5k. The half is challenging and hilly, and the other two are flat, but I kind of want to do the half.
I signed up! I can participate in the camel post! Woo!
I also signed up for the Myrtle Beach Half (the February one) again next year. It is $50 until March 15th.
