No, no, this is not a joke! I ran 2 miles of my 3.5 mile walking route tonight. I ran the first mile and one of the middle miles. Each mile included a good size hill, too. I'm not taking up a new sport. Trust me! This was a test for my knee. I haven't run on it since surgery other than 100 feet twice/lap for 7-8 cyclocross races and a few times from "here to the corner" on my walks. I decided to test it tonight. So far, so good. It didn't hurt any more than it normally does when I walk. My normal running speed is about 9:30-10:00/mile. I did 11:30 tonight, which is not a big deal. I was only seeing how the knee would hold up, not trying to win the Strava segment. So, what does a cyclist wear to run? A cycling jersey (of course, where else would I put my phone and all the stuff I carry??) and compression shorts:
Pardon me, I'm going to apologize for my bikes for running tonight instead of riding. I'm 5 months post op today!
Can you wear heels yet? I'm 9 months post op and I can run and do crossfit and other things but I still can't freaking wear high heels. LoL
I don't do heels in general. I've had back issues since an accident at work 12+ years ago. It doesn't give me many problems b/c I've learned how to manage in, including no heels. I've done my 1" heeled boots out to dinner a few times and didn't have any problems. I hope you can wear heels again soon!
Believe it or not, a tri is on my bucket list. We have a good sprint series around here, and I have a feeling I can kill a lot of women on the bike. BTW, do you know what the Athena weight limit is now?
Probably not this year b/c of the knee. I've been told that running will be impacted for 12-18 months until it's fully healed. I've been cleared to run up to 5 miles, but I have no desire to run that far right now. I still can't do anything that's twisting, torsion, etc. Cycling and swimming are the recommended activities. The doctor doesn't have to tell me to ride my bike!
Great job! And I like the cycling jersey approach- there's never enough space to hold stuff. Also more than slightly jealous that you could run in shorts and short sleeves :-)

I do that series, and it is really fun! I have only done the aquabikes in them though.
I love everything about this post, but especially the fact that you basically apologized to your bikes for cheating on them, while wearing cycling gear for running. Glad the knee held up for you!

Woohoo!!! I can't wait!!!
I think Athena is 165, but there are some races that use 150.
Awesome! I would love to see you do a tri. I think you'd be great. Do you swim much, or would that be the newest skill for you?
I was a competitive swimmer as a in middle/high school, and I still swim occasionally. I'm a strong swimmer although my form may not be the greatest anymore. I'm sure I'd survive for a sprint tri.

Wow; I would say you definitely qualify as a strong swimmer then. You are such a versatile athlete.
