It's going to be ok. We shipped our dog and cat to Japan in cargo in August (we actually moved to Japan during their hottest heat wave in 20 years) when we moved there. They came out fine, a little scared but I expected that. I did major research when we were getting ready to move. The area that your dog will have a/c, depending on how long the flight is they will give your dog water every so often.
Just breathe. I never heard any bad stories, and I know many people that had their animals sent over when in Japan.
We have transported out dog in cargo 3X and she was fine (just a little freaked out!). Airlines have cracked down a lot these last few years with live animal cargo. It has helped keep the animals as safe as possible.
We shipped our dogs from Alabama to Hawaii in the summer with Delta's Pet First program and had no problems at all. I was so anxious about it, but it was completely fine. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
My dog flew in cargo from Okinawa to Seattle in the summertime a few years ago. She is a nervous nelly to begin with and as expected, she was a little frazzled when we landed. Once she was able to walk around and play, she was fine though.
(}) he will be just fine!! I cried when I gave him to the pet agent to go to Heathrow (I couldn't bear to bring him myself) and was so anxious. He did wonderfully and Delta took excellent care of him. Hunter is currently sleeping peacefully on my feet, his journey around the world a distant memory.
If only there was a way to do like an MN transport. Someone in GA drives him to someone else, and that person drives him to the next, and so on. I actually think that would be fun (meeting MNers and driving random places).
