E and I are getting sick of paying for cable and always ending up watching Netflix or renting movies instead because there is nothing on. We are trying to decide if we want to see if we can get an even smaller package than we have now or if we should just cancel it all together.
If you don't have cable do you have "bunny ears" so you can at least get the local news? I think that would be the only thing I would miss.

We currently have cable. Our 2 year contact ends in Sept/Oct. I have been playing with dropping the cable part, since we watch a lot on Netflix steaming. We do have a digital antenna also, that we will use if we drop the cable.
I am considering dropping it, our contract is done in April. DH is the only one who watches TV. He loves obscure television like the History Channel and National Geographic Channel. But he isn't here, soooo. IDK.

We got dish when we moved here. Prior to that we just streamed netflix. Honestly, I could go either way. Right now we get a great deal on it. We live in the boonies and internet is $$$, so they throw in dish and a land line for next to nothing-the land line is literally FREE and cable is $19/month (full cable with HBO and Encore), internet is about $65/month. According to the itemization on the bill. Kind of a no-brainer at this point.
I do like having cable, but if the bill ever goes up we'll happily go back to netflix.
We were without it for just over a year a few years ago, got it back, and then just got rid of it again a few months ago. We use both instant and disc Netflix, and because we have a newer tv we get Fox, NBC, CBS, WGN, and a very blurry ABC Family without adding any kind of antenna. All in HD.
I'd really like to get PBS, ABC and a clear ABC Family though so we're thinking of getting a digital antenna before the fall season starts. There's really only like 5 other channels that I watch regularly and I can get those online.

Thank you so much ladies! Ojo I'm so buying that antenna, thanks for the rec. I don't really care how much it will cut as far as the cost of the bill each month for our phone and internet but I'm SO over having nothing to watch and watching Netflix anyways.

I think it's sort of sad but I can't imagine not having cable! We also get hbo and showtime. We both read a lot too, but there are some shows that I really love and I love to relax with some good tv after a long day!

We have basic cable for free because of housing, but it really doesn't get watched.
Mostly we watch things on Netflix or Amazon prime streaming. Occasionally we rent something from Redbox. I prefer to get my news online. Television news stations make me want to cut myself.
If there's a particular show I really like I either buy a season pass through a website online or wait till it comes out on disc and watch it straight through at my own pace without commercials and stuff.
