Parking at my apartment can get a little tight. There are a few uncovered spots that are considered open availability and there is one spot that is substantially closer to my building than any of the other open spots. The people that live below us have their assigned spot two spots away from the ideal spot but one of them has been parking in the ideal open spot and leaving their covered spot open for the last few weeks.
One person in my house thinks this is selfish and inconsiderate and one person thinks it is just ignorable. Who is right?

I am so annoyed at her but I mostly just walk past her car and grumble lots of words that need to be censored. Boyfriend says I shouldn't be annoyed but I am and it is valid. I won't do anything about it but when I walk past it I will think of all the clever things I could write on a spiteful note under her wiper.
I agree with tiramisu. But it's one of those things that would annoy the shit out of me. PARK IN YOUR SPACE!
This. It would drive me a bit batty. They have an assigned space near this other spot, not like it is on the other side of the lot/complex. But still a case of what makes them so special to not have to use their assigned spot?
There is a small parking lot across from my house where we park, and the drama is astounding.

I have a driveway but park on the street (I also have a dilapidated garage, if that helps explain anything). When it snows, it's every man for him/herself. I stole an elderly man's parking space the other day. I felt a mixture of terrible and triumphant.

I think you're both right too but I would be in the annoyed camp. I'm guilty of leaving notes on cars in our apartment complex over things like this. Not nasty ones, just friendly suggestions

this is strange to me
Why? Sometimes people don't realize they're being inconsiderate. I wouldn't key their car over it.
We do but it is usually Boyfriend's spot unless I'm getting home from work really late. House policy is that whoever is getting home from work the latest parks in the covered spot.
I thought about taking our land cruiser and showing her what winner takes all means. I could take my personal tank and push her tiny Mazda right out of the way.
(This is in my grand fantasy world where I get to do whatever I want without consequences)

Lol. Please note that I qualified my statement with, "if the spot is open." Sorry, kid.

My dad use to have this notebook of pre-printed notes that you can leave on people's cars telling they are idiots who do not know how to park. I wish he still had them so i could tell you the exact wording, but trust me, they got the point across.

I love stories about your dad! He would probably appreciate what I do when someone takes my laundry out of the washer or dryer when I'm not there the second it switches off....

The man is a character. I always say that a camera crew just needs to come to my parents house and film a day in the life of them together and it would be a huge hit.

Muddled, I love my new nose! It is so great. Scary things keep coming out of it but I've been breathing so well. I have also been sleeping through the night. I've been calling it my upgrade.
