I think its absurd to judge someone for this. There are a plethora of reasons for why she is doing it and I doubt her taking her purse with her places is detrimental to you as an employer.

I'm not judging her, all I said is it strikes me as odd. It's really nbd. I'm very impressed with her overall.
"I don't know why but it bugs me."
"I don't think she thinks anyone will steal, if she does that's even more weird."
Oh you're right st.pete - these statements are completly and totally without judgement.
I do this but I wear hard contacts and have had issues where something gets in my eye and I can't see to make it into the bathroom/to my purse to get my lens case etc so I just carry it with me. I also avoid leaving my purse out in general, I have worked in many offices where purse theft occurred.
For reasons I won't go into right now I had three iPhones, two endorsed checks totaling 16k and a thousand dollars in cash in my purse the other day at the hair salon and that sucker never left my lap. lol

Someone needs to lighten up. And it's not stpete.
I really do find it hilarious that when someone percieves that their "friend" is being slighted on here they go out of their way to tell others to "lighten up" or that they're "overinvested".
I stand by my thoughts. Which aren't way out in left field or anything.

You are being oddly argumentative. It is odd behavior.

I had two ladies in my office who did this and it was weird. With one the office rumors were that she was outside hitting a g-pen fairly often. She was also stoned looking, slept at her desk and reeked of the cheapest, most awful perfume. She didn't last too long. The other used to sit outside and yell on her phone. She is also gone. So carrying their purses everywhere was definitely not the weirdest thing either did. LOL

My boss asked me, one day, why women carry such big purses. I said, "So we can be prepared for anything. For example, if we need a change of shoes, Voila!" And, with that, I pulled a pair of shoes out of my tote. He was undeniably impressed. LOL

I'd probably take mine, too, if I was going to be gone from my desk for more than a few minutes. It's one of those things where it's so easy to just grab it instead of worrying that someone will take it or dealing with the aftermath if someone does take it. Also, I tend to feel weird if I don't have it. So much important stuff is in that one little bag. I see no harm in grabbing it.

WTMF? I'm being oddly agrumentative when I'm trying to stand up for someone who is doing nothing wrong. What do you think the reaction on here would be if they posted that their boss was being ridiculously weird about the fact that they carry their purse with them?
And FFS - yes @stpete I'm aware that marle is your IRL friend.

I only took me once being stranded in a hotel with nothing before I started carrying all sorts of stuff in my work bag.
It would get my attention if a woman was carrying a purse with her everywhere. It would seem silly to me but not "weird". Now if she had a small crossbody that she wore all the time, I would think it was because she needed to carry medication around with her all the time or something of that nature. But a normal-sized purse? Yeah, that would make me scratch my head in wonder.

I'd also be pretty intrigued about this. I do think it's a little 'weird' as in it's certainly not the norm. I'm sure it's something innocent and certainly none of my business but I'd still be wondering.
