Dude, I'm sorry the weather was the suck, but congrats on a positive race! We had a freakin gorgeous day yesterday, then today it was sooooo humid & rainy.
It was the annual 26.2 with Donna at the beach. It started raining on them, and then around the 5.5 hr mark, the course support closed for lightening. It's normally freezing for this race! Like dry & a start in the 20s-30s. Today, warm & rainy. Crazy weather.
I had a ton of fun. I was totally under trained, just coming off a month of PT for my knee and walked a lot of it with my friend. That humidity was brutal. We did not care about time, however I am very happy that with all going against me I came in a few minutes under my first half two years ago. So that's something.
I was happy that I did not start to really feel how unprepared I was until about mile 8. I never thought i would just enjoy a run so much. I had a great time. Really well organized!
i be typing from me phone. typos and grammer dont count.

I am FB friends with someone who did this run and he actually got hailed on and finished with a PR. I would have cut my losses with lightning and hail and found the closest shelter but then again I'm a big baby lol.

I'm glad he got to finish! They pulled people from the course. I know someone who only made it to mile 24 before she was scooped up by race officials.

Oh god can you imagine? 24 miles in? I would've been SO PISSED.
Princess runners, I'm sorry conditions sucked but it sounds like you all had a great time! I'm not a huge Disney person but the Princess half is on my list just to try it out once.

Oh hail no (hehehe) I would have beat them with a stick and kept going. They can tail gate my ass but you aren't kidnapping me with 2 miles to go.

OMG!! I think I would have attempted to outrun them for the last 2 miles.
I'm here too!! Going to try to post pix when back home not on phone. So much fun !!! I loved seeing all the costumes! It was so crazy foggy and humid. That last tour around Epcot killed me .. I was like where is the damn finish line? I stopped for pix lines at white rabbit and Mary poppins. I couldn't believe how long some of those picture lines were!
LOL! I know! They would have had to drag me in kicking & screaming. It was her first marathon too.
I probably would have been arrested for battery Did your friend still get a medal at least?
She did. Apparently they dropped them off right at the end, and let them run across the finish line. They were as nice about it as they could have been in that situation, I guess.
We also "swam" through the Disney Princess Half. I did it with my best friend from high school and we had a blast! We ran the entire thing but we stopped for a LOT of photo opps and because we were pretty far back in the corrals the lines were VERY long. I think we waited 22 minutes from Mickey/Minnie?
I learned a few things: -Running outside for 13.1 miles is REALLY tough after only being on a treadmill for three months -Running in humidity sucks -Running in sequins is not advisable -Stopping/starting for pictures makes for a very long and somewhat painful race. I stopped my watch each time we stopped and had we not not stopped at all we would have finished in 2:20. It took us 3 hours and 40 minutes. So we stopped a lot. =) -There will never be a more fun race than the Disney Princess Race. Seeing all those women embrace their inner princess and get dressed up is fantastic!

Positives - it was the Disney princess race, 'nuff said.
Negatives - HATED the new tracking system being used - sucked big twinkee balls, seemed a tad disorganized this year but I think it was because the cap was higher. Before I only dodged people for half a mile in the beginning and then periodically through the skinnier parts of the course. Felt like I was dodging the entire time.
Two days of parks prior to the race had my plantar faciitus screaming even before the race started. No amount of stretching, icing, etc. before hand would have helped because I was doing both regularly. Also - WTF! Apparently I need new shoes. My left knee is still a tad sore today. I had run in them earlier in the week just fine.
