I suddenly have another wedding to go to this year at Folly Beach in SC. Charleston is the closest city - is there a decent airport there or should I be looking to fly elsewhere and drive? If I had a day to kill in Charleston, what would I go and do?
This is the weekend after my half marathon, because my stepsister's surprise engagement was followed by a surprise deployment notification so this whole thing is crazy rushed.

I would fly into Charleston. I haven't flown into that airport in a while since I live within driving distance. When I lived in California, it was pretty expensive to fly into Charleston so we flew into Charlotte once and drove the 2.5 hours to Charleston. That was a terrible mistake that wasn't worth however much money we saved. We stayed out too late partying at the wedding and had something like crazy like 45 minutes after we got back to our hotel before we had to hit the road for Charlotte. It was a long horrible day. This was 10 years ago though, and I think the Charleston airport has improved since then.
Have fun! My brother was married on Folly Beach and it's one of my favorite places.
To kill a day in Charleston, I would just walk around downtown. Take a carriage tour. Check out the market, the battery, waterfront park, etc. Go shopping on King Street.
I live in Charleston and agree that you should just fly into the airport here. The closest bigger airports would be Charlotte or Atlanta, for me Charlotte is more like 3 - 3.5 hours and ATL is close to 5. I wouldn't want to do that after wedding festivities. We did get Southwest a few years ago, so that my be an option for a cheap-ish flight, but in general you pay a premium to fly in here.
To kill time, if it is not beach weather, I'd also head downtown for shopping, eating and barhopping in whichever order. See the Battery, historic district south of broad street, waterfront park etc.
I just flew in there for an interview right before Christmas and it was great. There's a lot to walk around and see on the peninsula if you have an extra day!
I'd fly info Charleston. The next nearest big Airports would be Savannah and Columbia. I can't see them being any/much cheaper. I would NOT drive 5 hours from the ATL to save a few bucks.
Looks like you already got your answer but I was going to say CHS as well.
We've vacationed there the past few years at Kiawah Island and always flew into Charleston. It's a small airport, old but easy to get in and out of. There's an Outlet right outside of the airport and downtown Charleston is full of charm.
