Good morning! Today was grocery shopping day in my house, and ended up being a go-to-the-store-three-times-in-one-day day. I got home from the initial shop only to discover that the mozzarella cheese was moldy, so back to the store I went to get that exchanged and then when I got home, I found I had forgotten to buy sugar even though it was on my list. So it was back to the store again. I probably would have skipped going back the third time, but I was completely out of sugar (of all kinds) and I was making bread so I needed a some to feed my yeast. It was a tiring day, and being out in the heat three times probably brought on the migraine I'm suffering through. But I have a great husband who went down to the fish & chipper to get me a Dr. Pepper and an ice cream bar to help. (I know it's anecdotal, but a regular, full-sugar Dr. Pepper and two Excedrin really do help migraines better than anything I know -- well, anything else available over-the-counter.)
QOTD: No big travel plans until New Year's Eve, when we're flying to San Francisco for a couple of days before heading to Tampa for a cruise with my parents. I have the hotel booked in SF and will get on the flights next month. But we do have a couple of long weekend/overnights in Melbourne coming up. One for a Bill Bryson talk and another for a Suzanne Vega concert.

Dorothy - that sounds exhausting! I totally understand about the Dr. Pepper! Sometimes a can of regular Coke is enough to ward off a headache for me! Hope you're feeling better soon!
Not too much happening here. I'm at work, and things are relatively quiet so far. I have yoga tonight after work and then home to relax :-)
QOTD: No major travel coming up anytime soon. Just short weekend trips to Dubai/Abu Dhabi - I have two new Zumba certification trainings I'll be attending in Dubai (March and April), along with a Mackelmore/Ryan Lewis concert (April) and Justin Timberlake (May). We're still trying to figure out what we'll do in the summer, and haven't even thought about Christmas yet!!!
Hello! Sounds like a great trip Dorothy, how was your maritimes cruise?
I'm jealous of all the concerts jennybee!
Just work here, we've been having great weather this week, it feels like spring!
QOTD: We're planning a trip at the end of April to Paris. SIL offered us some tickets to Disney for xmas and we would like to go before the summer. I have a week of holidays to take before mid-april and I'm trying to decide if I should go somewhere by myself.

No vacations planned, but DH wants to go to the baltic Sea in March or April for a week. We shall see. As far as home projects we have a demolition scheduled for next week. We have a giant concrete terrace with basement that's getting torn down so that DD can't climb on it and hurt herself. And it's really ugly and where I want to put a veggie garden, so it's got to go.

Good afternoon! Today is a busy day because the movers are coming tomorrow for 80% of our stuff. They come on Friday for the rest of it and then we move. I'm still on a high from yesterday because I passed my German theory driving test. Now I just have to do the practical test. I'm still kind of annoyed that I have to do my license over again since I got my license in NY in 1995. There is no agreement between NY and Germany license wise. And the tests are not easy either...
QOTD: Nothing big planned. We are going to Copenhagen because we got tickets to the Eurovision final. Apart from that, we are just trying to concentrate on the move.
QOTD: we're going to Italy for a week in April, I can't wait! And we finally met with an architect last night to discuss renovation plans for our house, including transforming/extending the basement.
I'm beyond myself with excitement at the ideas he mentioned (opening up the kitchen to a terrace, adding an island, inserting some glass in the floor to create a light well). I actually squealed at my H after the guy left
Of course he's probably going to come back with a ridiculously high budget but in the meantime I'm browsing houzz.com and dreaming away!

Hi there, it's snowing here. My cold finally seems to be showing signs of abating. I'm very happy because its been a solid week of feeling very ill. It did not gradually ease up or anything, it was just awful. I finally feel like there's an end in sight.
QOTD: Frankly the weather has been too unpredictable to plan anything. Also, I've been caught up in work. I'm sure there will be more traveling on my horizon as soon as I get a chance.
Not much going on here. H is in the US, so I have been busy holding down the fort solo with DD. I have also taken up a third job of ordering everything I possibly can and shipping it to my US neighbor's house so that H can bring it back to Dubai with him.
QOTD: No firm plans yet. We are toying with a road trip through Scandinavia during Ramadan, a surf trip to Thailand in the fall, and some quickie surf trips to Sri Lanka as soon as we can get DD vaccinated. (I would have gotten her shots at home had I known that it would be nearly impossible to do here. DD just got her visa last week - nearly five months in the making - and we still have to wait for her Emirates ID to be processed and issued before she can get vaccinated here. Um, red tape?
Hello! Sounds like a great trip Dorothy, how was your maritimes cruise?
The cruise was great! It was chilly until our stop in Port Canaveral, but that didn't bother me as I love cold weather. Baie Comeau was an interesting place, not quite ready for an influx of tourists, but still a very nice community. My Dad, an engineer, toured the Hydro-Electric Dam, the only Dam in the World with a built-in log flume, while we did a Glacier Center experience and then went to the World's Largest Shell Valley. I had my fill of fresh lobster. One of the really nice things about the Maritime cruises is at the stop in Bar Harbor, the ship actually picks up fresh lobster for the formal night dinner that night.
I didn't get off the ship in Boston, instead we stayed on board and watched Red 2 in the theater and watched a ship-wide emergency drill. This one was a fire in the main dining room which was not controlled and there had to be an abandon ship order. It was interesting to watch everyone.
In Port Canaveral, we toured Kennedy Space Center which was awesome. I had toured Mission Control in Houston when they were still launching Space Shuttles, and we had a field trip in grade school out to the Michaud facility, where the thruster rockets were built, so it was nice to see where everything ended up. It was fantastic, and I really think 8 hours was not nearly long enough for that tour, I think you need several days there. I think I stood speechless looking at the Atlantis Shuttle for fifteen minutes.
It was a great trip, and I would love to take DH on a similar itinerary, but his schedule just doesn't work with the Maritimes cruises. Next January we are taking a Southern Caribbean cruise, with stops in Key West, San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Johns, St. Lucia, Curacao, Aruba, and Grand Cayman. I've been everywhere but St. Johns and San Juan, but I'm still looking forward to the cruise. I am really excited about going to the Little White House in Key West with DH.
