I think I would hate one of these. I suck at all things crafty and I cannot image doing well or enjoying tyring to paint something in front of a group like that for "fun"
Oh, I love it! I'm not crafty at all, my painting turned out pretty bad but everyone else's turned out really good. And drinking is imperative. It's most of the fun!
To be fair Tamb, it's not really feasible to finish a nice painting in four hours that has two people and a dog. Especially if you don't paint as a general rule.
I ran a painting engagement party at my old work once (for the groom's sister, it was her idea) where we had all of the guests recreate a painting of the couple's choosing. You should have seen the images the couple picked for us, lots of high realism still lifes. I found one lonely abstract painting in the image file they sent me and we did that. It was a huge challenge, especially because the groom's sister was the only one who had ever painted before. By the end of the party we made a painting very similar to the original, but damn most of the night I spent reassuring the group how paintings don't appear magically out of thin air, there is a long process involved, and until we got towards the end of that process, it really doesn't look anything like art.
Everyone signed the back of the canvas, and they were able to hang it in the gallery the wedding ceremony was held in a few months later.
