I've decided to order our first round of groceries since it will be a big one (I need to stock up on spice, oils, etc) and I don't have a car right now. I'm not sure which is better. I think peapod comes from a stop and shop? and I can get free delivery for 3 months or some such. I don't know where Fresh Direct comes from, or if it is its own thing. Any input? I want to order today. But, is that mean because its snowing? I feel bad for the delivery guy.
TrudyCampbell tagging you because I know you do fresh direct.
Peapod comes from Giant. I've done both and prefer FD. Their produce is better and I love the ready to cook meals. Peapod might have a larger selection though.
Fresh Direct is its own thing. You can place the order today, but the delivery time slots may be full. I usually have to place my order the day before I need my food, but it could just be my neighborhood that fills up fast. I don't know anything about Peapod to compare the two. Maybe compare the prices of the spices on the two sites? I usually only get meat/dairy/produce from FD so I don't know how their pricing is on staples.
Peapod delivers from grocery stores in your neighborhood. Peapod delivers from Stop & Shop to our house, too. I normally shop at Stop & Shop around here unless I feel like making a trip to Fairway. I love Stop & Shop's Nature's Promise organic brand. Their produce is nice and often they sell local, in season produce. With a Stop & Shop frequent Rewards customer card you can save quite a bit of money.
I used FreshDirect when I lived in the city. They have nice gourmet items, meat and produce but I wasn't able to get same day service from FD.
For spices and such I would probably go with Peapod as FD might be more expensive for that. I would do FD for meat, produce and cheese. I a really looked at FD delivers to me now. How exciting.

I looove Fresh Direct. Never used Pea Pod. Fresh Direct 4 life!
And OMG don't feel bad that it's snowing! #1- this is not snow. This is absolutely nothing. #2- you most likely won't find an available delivery time for today anyway. It's bets to order a little bit in advance. You might, though, bc it's in the middle of the week. And if it was REALLY snowing, they wouldn't let you choose that delivery time. I've ordered like 900 times this winter and the worst that has happened is the snow delayed them a bit.
I tip sometimes, like $2-3. They deliver to us at 6-8am so sometimes I'm half asleep and forget.
