I was put on modified bedrest Friday along with some meds to help with the contractions. No lifting, no cleaning, light cooking, and I need to be sitting or laying for most of the day. I can have one or two small outings a week as long as I don't over do it, and am not contracting. My doctor did say I could still go to the pool as long as I kept my activity level low, so that is a good thing. I am 28 weeks along, and the goal is to make it to 38 weeks and I will have a c-section then.
So my questions are:
1. Anyone have any brilliant ideas to help me keep my 4 year old busy during the times when her and I are home alone? DH works a funky schedule and I don't really have any family around to help me out, so we are going to be alone a fair amount of the time.
2. What are some good quick, light prep meals that I can add to our menu so that we don't live off takeout or crap for the next 10 weeks. DH will obviously do as much cooking as possible, but he isn't always going to be around to help.
I don't have a toddler, but my friend who was stuck on bed rest with a 3 year old said they did a ton of reading and her daughter colored and did crafts a lot.
I ended up on bed rest and before it turned into super strict bed rest I cut up a bunch of chicken breasts (trimmed them and cut them in half because the ones we buy are ridiculously thick) and put them into plastic baggies with enough for H and I for one meal. Then I tossed marinades into each bag and threw them in the freezer. The idea was to be able to pull out a bag in the morning, let it defrost, then Just make chicken and a box of frozen veggies and maybe some salad for dinner. Unfortunately my bed rest turned strict very quickly and H would cook once in a while but he hates doing it so we ate a lot of crap. The doctors were concerned that I wasn't gaining enough anyway (first time I've ever heard that before!), so H looked at it as a good excuse to not cook.

ETA - Good luck! How far along are you? Hopefully you don't have long to go.
