Well, I haven't lost nearly the weight I want to lose. But I feel so much better, physically, after purging all the sugar from my system (dipping into my husband's stash of Girl Scout cookies notwithstanding).
And, but for a half pound last week, I haven't gained. So, there's that.

Not great pics, but this is at almost my highest and recently. Attachment Deleted I had been very pleateaued for a few months and was very frustrated. This ML challenge has really gotten me over a hump and I feel so strong and determined. I still have a long way to go, but do not feel like it is an insurmountable obstacle. I was talking to my doctor today and she reassured me that going slow was best because changing to a healthy lifestyle is what is important. We talked about high protein/low carb and she really felt that it is something that I will be able to maintain and just keep going. I love my doctor. She also said, "I understand the science of it all, but I'm also a woman who has weight to lose and it sucks!"
ETA: What works -- I have an AMAZING support system in my "gym." I use Vitabot, which is similar to MyFitnessPal, but is available to nutrition professionals. It takes into consideration height, weight, body fat percentage and a few other factors. It gives a range of calories to aim for. I also work out a TON -- I actually counted and if I attend every class I can it would be 18 a week, with a rest day.
DS is 7 months and I am thrilled that I am now below my pre-pregnancy weight. I am happy with where I am, except for my belly flab, but I know that will take time. However I am still trying to lose another 15 lbs which would be amazing. That would put me at my lowest adult weight ever - I can't comprehend what that would feel like!
So, I haven't lost much (maybe five pounds?) but I've been really good with getting to the gym about three times a week. I am at the point where it feels like a stress reliever and I can actually say that I enjoy it, which is HUGE. I am an exercise hater but turning it into a habit has made it something that I almost look forward to.
It's tough to find good picture of before and after because before I didn't like taking them and after I'm waiting to take nice professional pictures before I let out my new body.
The before is in august of last year. At my lowest point health wise. This was after a sushi eating contest. Pig!
The after is a couple of weeks ago while out with the girls.
I do have to clarify that I started two months before we started the group here. By the time we started here I had already lost between about 25 pounds.
Pulling this off with a serious injury is so commendable!
Thank you!! Yup, those are the new shoes. My ankle is freaking PERFECT. No pain/stiffness, no weird sensations, full range of motion, etc... I'm super lucky. My surgeon did a good job.
If I could ask, what formula are you using to figure out how many calories to eat - for those calorie counting? I haven't found a sweet spot and would appreciate pointers.
If it helps, I had a body band that I wore 24/7 for a few weeks. On days I worked out, I burned 2400-2600 calories in a day, including the cal burn from my run. On rest days I burn 1500-1750 cals/day. How many cals should I deduct from those to lose? 250?
Don't know if someone else responded already but a pound of fat is 3500 calories, so having 500 fewer than you need every day would drop you a pound a week.
But I'm finally under my pre-pregnancy weight. Thank you Norwalk virus.
AND, if I'm feeling really desperate, I found the spot in my bedroom where the scale lies by 10 lbs. I tried it four times and it was a full 10 lbs underweight. I moved it around and every where else it's accurate.

I own a 2nd scale (that I don't use for actual weigh in) that I bought because I wanted a new one. Well this thing is SO freaking touchy that breathing makes it move by 5 to 10lbs. If I put more pressure on the front of my foot, I weigh a lot more. If I put more pressure on my heels, it tells me I weigh about 160 (I WISH!). The thing just will not give out an accurate reading.
I keep it around to make myself feel better at times. lol.
I have lost 10lbs since 12/26. It's been a slow process and I lost 4.2 of those lbs during this challenge. Yesterday I noticed my yoga pants had loose material around the butt, thighs and stomach. I was able to pull up pre-preg jeans but not button them. A few months ago I wasn't able to get them over my thighs.
I've been stagnant for weeks but I dropped 10 lbs in the beginning. I'm buying new jeans tomorrow. I'll be burning my horrible old navy mom jeans shortly after.
The weight isn't coming off - and I've decided I'm ok with that. I'm not making it my main goal anymore, but more of an after effect.
Since we've started - I've gone from 5min on the eliptical making me super winded and the heart-rate monitor telling me I'm going to die, to feeling pretty good and keeping my heart-rate at a good level for 20min. I can also lift more than I ever have before - especially in the arms. I'd LIKE to do more on the treadmill, but I keep getting massive shin splints if I go faster than 3.2 - 3.4. Adjusting the incline doesn't seem to make a difference, and I'm stretching before and after.

I just want to say what a great job everyone is doing! EVERY success, whether big or small, is worth being proud of. Losing a pound, losing 50 pounds. Trying out a new fitness class, cutting out soda. It ALL makes a difference! And look how much progress has been made by everyone! Wow!
1. I still went to the gym 2. I did longer on the treadmill and the ski machine than I'm supposed to and more reps for the squats etc. second day in a row 3. I felt like I could have kept going but I had to stop because I needed to go back to work. 4. Two co-workers commented that I looked more firm and thinner
So I'm really hopeful for my fat/muscle measurements next week as the scale is not my friend.

How old are your shoes? Getting fitted for quality shoes that fit the needs of your feet and gait makes a HUGE difference and might help with the shin splints.
jaylea - good call. I should look into it. They are 3 or so years old, but I rarely wear them for everyday use. And they weren't properly fitted to me, just some I picked up. I didn't used to have issues with them on the treadmill, so it could be playing a role. A running store opened up in town not too long ago so I'll check them out.
I majorly fell off the diet wagon about three weeks in. :/
BUT, I've been doing well and actually exercising when I have the chance and I feel so much better. Since we started the weight loss thing at the beginning of January, I am down 9 pounds. Which isn't a lot, but it's a lot for me. Whoop!
TrickyBob, I haven't checked in with you for the spreadsheet lately, but there's my update for you!

That is nothing to sneeze at, you are now in the 3%.
