I dont know what my actual "diagnosis" is, however I am seeing a PT and ortho, and basically the consensus is that I have a torn hamstring that has not healed properly and as a result have scar tissue build up which is causing me severe pain and discomfort (espcially when sitting) in my hamstrings and glutes
I am exhausted by the evening from the constant pain. They said there is not much I can do besides rest, pt, and try to find comfort
has anyone dealt with anything like this?
How long did it take? its been a few months already, i have not ran in 3 weeks, it feels a bit better, BUT in addition I am extremely tight/sore and have 0 flexibility in my hamstrings on certain days.
I currently do PT 3x per week and hot yoga (i never take it to my limit) and am hoping my flexibility will improve, BUT the soreness........
I did have a torn hamstring. I went to PT and there they massaged it to break up the scar tissue. They also had me use a tennis ball like a foam roller. It HURT (the breaking up of the scar tissue). It then took me about 6 months to never feel any pain when running. Hang in there...it will heal.
I think I was out for maybe 3-4 months & then eased back into it for a month before I climbed back to higher mileage, & marathon training. I did PT twice a week. In addition to the exercises at PT, they did ultrasound, massage, foam roller & Graston to really break up the scar tissue. I also had some SI joint alignment issues. Hang in there!
Hang in there!! I have been trying to deal with piriformis syndrome for about 2.5 months now and it's the worst thing ever for someone who loves to run. My only recommendation is to follow your doctor's/PT's recommendations and do the exercises and stretching religiously so you can get back on track.
