Saw my surgeon today so I thought I'd update you'ins re: my tots. I have been super itchy for a couple weeks now. Doctor removed my steri-strips for good and said I am having a dermatitis reaction to the glue they used to close me up. He said it's not bad enough for oral steroids, but he did prescribe some hydrocortisone cream. He said I should be feeling better in a few days with that and then I can start using a scar cream.
I have been working out the past two weeks - just rowing, AirDyne, box step-ups, and squats. I am all clear for anything else I want to do on Tuesday, so that's good! My coach is being more conservative than my doctor so I have a feeling it'll be a little longer before I can really do anything I want to do.
I am allowed to wear an underwire bra for one night for my coworker's wedding. It's like a coming-out party for my tots.
Thanks everyone, for your support through this. I really appreciate it

Yay! Sorry you're itchy, and I hope the cream starts working soon. How are they looking? Do you feel like they're what you wanted, or are they still swollen and settling in so you can't really tell yet?

They are absolutely gorgeous! They're actually larger than I anticipated, but I'm okay with that. They stand up on their own and that's really what I was hoping for. The dermatitis is not as bad on the nipples as it is underneath the breasts and the scarring on my nipples is not bad at all - just a thin red line, which is great. I think once the dermatitis goes away, I'll get a better sense of how the underside looks. My surgeon checked to see if I was softening properly so he totally copped a feel and massaged them a little bit lol. He said they're settling exactly like they should be.
Ahhhh...I remember feeling so good once those steri strips came off! Your skin will be back to normal in no time! I also love that I don't have to adjust mine so my nipples face the correct direction when I stuff them into a bra!
I am TREMENDOUSLY jealous of you and your new tots. Very much want to do this but my Dr. won't do it until after I have a baby. Good luck with the healing!
