I'm looking for fun local places to try while I am out here, but I have my twins with me. Do any of the Seattle folks have any recommendations? We are staying in Bellevue (right downtown), but have a car so we can go anywhere. Thanks!
Phinney Market Pub is awesome! www.phinneymarketpub.com/. Great food and beer list and they have a huge train table/kids area.
It's really close to the zoo, so would make a good dinner after a zoo outing if you have that on your list of things to do.
I'd love to see the zoo, but I'm not sure two 7 month olds would care. Is it worth it for the adults?
Oh, and now I see what you are saying about living north of 45th. Ugh. I did find a house on mercer island that I love. Too bad they are looking at offers in an hour and we aren't in a position to make one.

Yeah, this whole real estate market is crazy to me. I did link the house on Mercer that I love in a post below. Let me know if you think I can find something similar to that. Everyone tells us that Mercer is sooo expensive, but there are some gems out there, they just need a tad bit of updating. We just don't have any info from DHs company so it's too early to start making offers.
I'll definitely check out the zoo then. I love zoos. Hopefully next weekend will be nice too. Ooh, I want to do a duck boat tour. Is this totally stupid?
I'm doing the Ducks with a bunch of girlfriends when I come up to Seattle in a few weeks - we are all in our 30s so it's not stupid!
As for restaurant recommendations - if you're in the Phinney Ridge area, grab a burger at Red Mill (kid friendly, not cell phone friendly). In Bellevue, you could probably do TapHouse, Cheesecake Factory, Red Robin - those would all be very kid friendly. If you want more adult-oriented restaurants... Palomino's is good and you can have kiddos in the main restaurant area, just not the bar. Purple Wine Bar & Cafe is also a good option - there is one in Bellevue or one in Seattle. Sounds like you are moving to the area... good luck finding a place! I long to move back with DH but I think it's still 3-4 years in the future for us...
Thanks. Maybe I can talk my husband into the duck tour and the zoo next weekend. We have already done the monorail, space needle and a ferry ride to Bainbridge. Can I take the kiddos into purple wine bar and cafe? Washington seems to have some strange liquor laws regarding kids and bars.
We might be moving to the area if DHs company can get their act figured out. See my post about "do you like this house."
You can definitely take kids into the restaurant part of Purple. There's also Cactus in Kirkland if you head up there.
I second the Red Mill and Phinney Market suggestions. Vios is also good with kids if you want to go to Capital Hill (off the main streets though). I think your kids are pretty young though (?) so the play areas at Vios and Phinney Market are probably not as important.
Yeah, they are only 7 months old. We just need a place that we won't freak out if they start screaming for a bottle (which is whenever we eat).
