If I were doing it this year (see ticker, lol) I would be able to do it but I wouldn't be awesome - it would take me a while to chip away at my DUs…I can only do about 7 linked, on a good day - and certainly not once I get tired…the snatches at 55# would be okay...

I can do this WOD, guys! I'm just so happy I can do it! I'm not great at double unders, and 25 kg is heavy for me for a snatch, but I will get more than 0 reps! Plus the snatches actually just need to be ground to overhead, so when I get tired I can clean and jerk/push press. I randomly did DUs last week instead of running, and for the first time I could do more than 2 in a row, so let's hope that is actually a new skill and not just a freak accident that won't happen again for me.
Did anyone watch Fischer vs. Hendren? Those guys make 75 lb look like it's nothing.

OMG Hendren was just muscling those snatches. They weren't even snatches...more like grount-to-overhead. That was insane.
Last year I was working at Rogue during the Central East regional. I left work at lunch to eat at Whole Foods, and ran into him there. I told him he'd done a great job with Jackie and he was real awkward. I was starstruck though.
I think that in 10 minutes I would (if it were last May, let's say, or June), have been able to get in a round and a bit…the double unders would have taken me a while for round one, then the snatches would have been fine, then I would struggled through the next round of DUs because I would be tired.
I wish they had put the snatches first, I feel badly for some of the people at my box who don't have their DUs yet. I can do them, but not very well and not linked. But I can do them. When not 8 months pregnant, lol.
I didn't watch the standards video - so you can C&J if you want? Usually they put something in the standards specifically about S vs. C&J. I'm surprised by that.

Yeah, it's weird to me too that they call it a "power snatch" rather than just "ground to overhead" if they really mean the latter. But hey, better for me!
I practiced a bit today. The DUs will easily take me 2 min/round, could be way more. It's totally up to the gods whether I can link a bunch together or just keep doing 1 and 2 at a time, and of course as I get tired I screw up more. I think my goal is to get 100 reps, but it will really depend on the DUs whether that's possible or not. I think I'm doing it Sunday...AHHHHH!

DUs are such a roll of the dice for me. Some days I do them great and other days I just totally lose it.

My DUs are totally awesome one day and not the next too. We did them in a workout today and they were so-so. I managed to string 15 together pretty consistently today so here's hoping that tomorrow when we do them for real they will happen.

Done! 126 reps, which I'm happy with. My strategy of starting with snatch and switching to C&J was a good one for me, and even though I didn't do my best ever DUs they were mostly fine.
mandiespharm, how'd it go for you? Are we the only two here actually doing the Open?

I'm not actually doing it....I can't get my pull-ups yet so I know there will be at least one workout I would get zero. But I did do 14.1 today and got 145! And I did all snatches. I might re-do it and switch to c&j to see if I can get further.
In hindsight I wish I would have entered and done what I could have at least.

wambam I thought the DUs were going to be the problem for you...you did them ok? I'm glad you got to do a modified version at least!
mandiespharm I would imagine you would get more with C&J unless you are just a snatching machine. I am not, so I would have spent a lot of time resting vs. continuing with the C&Js. Either way, 145 is awesome! You may not have pull ups, but apparently you are better at DUs and snatches than I am It's always kind of interesting to me to see how people have such different strengths and weaknesses.

I did this yesterday morning and got 213. I'm a little disappointed because I wanted to get 250+ but the snatches got heavy fast and I had to break them up into sets of 5 after the first round. I'm tempted to go back and try again today switching to c&j because I think I may actually be faster with those. Unfortunately now my forearms arm sore so it may not make much of a difference.

Thanks!! I can usually clean up on DUs - today not so much since it was the third day in a row. I gave up and did SUs in todays WOD. You girls are so supportive I love it!
Nice, wambam! I thought that the boobs were not allowing you to jump, not that you couldn't do them well, but I'm glad they cooperated
rubiakt I bet that tomorrow you'll be ok to try again. Good luck if you go for it!
I thought so too but I got a high impact sports bra (I forget now that I'm a "normal" size I can just go buy one instead of ordering online) and I was able to jump no problem. I got in a rhythm and it felt great!
I was excited about 14.1! I got 206 so I was pretty pleased.
There is a woman at my box in the 40-44 group who got 334. THREE HUNDRED THIRTY FOUR REPS. She goes in the morning so I don't know her personally but I can't wait to see how she does throughout the Open.

Whhhaaaa?!
I can't even imagine. It must have been unbroken, right? Cannot even fathom.

Yeah, I heard her DUs were completely unbroken and I'm sure her snatches had to be pretty much unbroken as well.

I wonder now that videos are required for regionals competitors, if they'll be available online. I'd love to watch Sam Briggs do this workout.
Well I know the dude that beat Froning has his video up on his YouTube page & the CrossFit page also linked it. I would think the videos should be easy to find.
I would also love to see Sams video along with some others, I'll probably look them up tomorrow after all scores have to be submitted.

Sam Briggs' video is insane. If not for the bit at the end after time's up where she's clearly out of breath and tired, you'd think she hadn't even broken a sweat.
