Well... 34 weeks it was. My water broke just before midnight Wednesday night. My babies were born via c-section at 3:20 and 3:21am on Thursday morning. Baby A weighed 5lbs and Baby B weighed 3lbs13oz. They're both in the NICU, doing ok but being premies... I wish they'd stayed in a little longer and that Baby B had been a little bigger (the recent growth scan was obviously a little overly optimistic), but I'm loving them.
I've been okay, but am kind of hitting a physically and emotionally exhausted place. The pain is not too bad and I'm glad I didn't even have time to get worked up about the surgery or anything. The nursing staff have been great and my wife is taking good care of me. I'm not getting as much from pumping as the NICU nurse wants, which is hard. But I've been up walking around and got to go to the NICU a few times. I got to hold one baby twice, but the other baby isn't ready to be held yet.
Aww I can't imagine how overwhelming all of that is. You're such a good mom for getting them this far inside, and they are lucky to have you "outside" now. A friend of ours gave birth to her twins when they were both exactly 1lb (and of course the weight dropped shortly thereafter). I know it was heartbreaking for her to have to watch them in NICU, but I was amazed watching their story at how resilient those little buggers are. They are now 3 (omg I can't believe that. I had to check FB to see, lol), and just the most awesome rambunctious balls of fun, you'd never imagine they started out so teeny. Be good to yourself and don't worry about your milk not cooperating. You're body's done a LOT these last months, and you should be so so proud of that!
Oh my goodness! Mind you, I'm hormonal as all heck, but I just cried when I read you had the babies. CONGRATULATIONS! How amazing. Sending the three of you lots of healthy vibes so you all feel good and strong.
Trying for #3; FET 8/18 -- BFN. Leaving things up to chance for now... After three years, three IVFs, and two FETs, we finally have our miracle babIES!
Congratulations! From one twin mama to another! I wish you all the best and hope that you and babies continue to do well. I hope your milk production goes up as your milk comes in.

Congratulations!! I know how hard a c/s and NICU stay can be (although not with twins), so hang in there! It's tough, but soon it will be just a memory. Enjoy snuggling your babies!!
Whew, I have hardly had time to breathe in the past week. I was discharged from the hospital on Monday and am continuing to recover well. I've had a little pain today when moving around more, but overall c-section recover thus far has actually been easier than I expected. I hope there's not some secret really hard part coming! Leaving the babies at the hospital and coming home to an empty house was really really hard.
Both girls have graduated from the NICU into the intermediate care nursery. They're both focusing on learning to eat now - baby B is eating like a champ and graduated from IV nutrition/fluids today, but she's little so she needs to gain weight before they'll even let her think about maintaining her body temperature. Baby A is a little more hesitant about her eating but is making good progress.
I'm not sure what to call them on the internet yet... I'm a little hesitant to use their real names, but babies A and B feels so impersonal now!
Beautiful!! Are they fraternal or identical?? I can't recall that part of your story!
They're fraternal. You can't see it from these pictures because B has a hat on, but she has lighter hair right now. A to me looks similar to newborn pictures of me, but I was actually blonde as a kid (and now have brown hair as an adult) - so I'm not really putting too much stock into their coloring now.
