Hi all. I'm wanting to try contouring a little more. What products do you use? Regular bronzer and highlighter or is there something more suitable that I am unaware of? Favorite tutorials?
I've been using a bronzer from two faced that I got from the traveling sample box. SMLx0 on youtube has some really good subtle contouring/highlighting videos. She has one where she only uses highlighting that is really good.
For highlighting I use Maybelline Instant Age Rewind® Eraser Dark Circles Concealer. That girl Tiffany who does a make up blog (she's pretty popular...can't remember the youtube channel though) recommended it. and I LOVE it.
If you have about 4 years of free time and no other commitments in your life, we have a monster - and I do mean monster - makeup thread over on CEP that occasionally dips into the contouring/bronzer/highlighter discussion. For a quick look, the last few pages have gotten into it.
I use tarte bronzer and whatever highlighter I'm in the mood for (I have a million). There are a million tutorials, the maskcara blog has a good one (try her 5 min mom makeup). I contour on a daily basis and am pretty sure it makes no difference.
For natural contouring I prefer a matte bronzer (no shimmer) Bobby Brown bronzer in medium, Benefit's Hula are good choices. NYX (drugstore brand, but awesome) has about 3-4 matte bronzer shades and I've used the medium color and love it.
For a highlight, I love love love Maybelline's age rewind concealer. I like the fair shade and the pinkish illuminator shade. YSL Touche' Eclat is another good one.
Any setting powder will work to set the highlight. I love Laura Mercier's secret powder. I just ordered the NYX version and I'm excited to try it. It was really cheap so I hope I like it. I believe Maybelline also has a setting powder and I know Kim Kardashian's MU uses Ben Nye Banana Powder which is $8!
I like this tutorial. It is a heavy application (she's replicating a Kim Kardashian look)but I think she does a lovely job showing HOW to contour and giving you an idea of what areas you want to lighten and darken. She also uses all drug store makeup which is great!

I use this as well. A pan lasts forever. I asked for a new one years ago for Christmas, thinking I was nearly out, and I still haven't cracked the new one open.
That tutorial is a trip. It's one of those looks that I think is fabulous in the tutorial, but if I did my own face like that, it would look ri-damn-diculous, even for going out.
