Yes! Check the seams, depending on the material & seam allowance, you may have enough to alter it to fit today.
I'm no help with the weight loss stuff...I was the complete opposite w/ DS1. I was 15 pounds below my pre-pregnancy weight by about 4 months & stayed that way until done feeding him. Then it all came back...plus a few!
“Life is not orderly. No matter how we try to make it so, right in the middle of it lose a leg, fall in love, drop a jar of applesauce.” - Natalie Goldberg
How high in the back is it too tight? Is through an area where you will be likely to lose wt?
Is it possible to trade dresses with another girl?
This is a panic. I am not sure if waiting will help or make things worse. But I will say if the dress was made wrong you should not have to suffer or pay to have it altered. In my area that would be an easy $100 + alteration.

It won't close for the last two or three inches of the zipper, right where my bra clasp is. I will certainly lose weight in that area when I'm done breastfeeding. When I stopped breastfeeding my first son, I lost two or three inches in the bust.
I also eat a ton of sugar and crap. I think if I really buckle down with my diet it should make a big difference.

Oh this is good news, there is hope! You should make it, just def. follow a good meal plan. You do not want to have to pack the girls in. It may zip up the back and cause double bubble in the front! ;-) Good Luck!!
