You may be able to report it to the board that holds his state license.
Have I let too much time go by to report him? A lot of this happened one on one, so it would be my story against his. The "hobby" part the nurse was in the room for.
Not sure if there's a time limit, but if you report him and it's "too late" then nothing comes of it. But, if you do nothing, then nothing comes of that either. I know it's uncomfortable but knowing he could be seeing teenage girls who don't know that his schtick is totally inappropriate, I would at least try. Sorry this happened to you.
I found a gynecologist and went in for my annual appointment at the end of December, and I'm probably over thinking the whole thing, but it made me pretty uncomfortable. I'm going to switch because obviously that's really the last place I want to feel uncomfortable, especially if we decide to have another kid.
Before the actual exam, he came in to talk to me for about ten minutes, which I guess is his normal thing. While we were talking, he commented multiple times on my appearance, and grabbed my ankles so he could look at them because "I always heard Iowa girls didn't have ankles"... Then he commented on his favorite literature when he found I was an English teacher, and made the point that he really liked the Harlem Renaissance "because of the sex". Then he left, and I got undressed an into the gown. He came back in for the exam, and wanted to see my back first, because "it's [his] hobby". Then he did the exam itself and I guess nothing seemed terribly weird about it, but I was really uncomfortable during the whole thing. When it was done, he and the nurse left; then he came back in to tell me something about something I had asked about prior to the exam--which is fine, but I had already started to get up to get dressed, and he didn't knock, but I was able to get covered up yet. It just felt off.
Am I overthinking this? Was this pretty innocent?
He commented MULTIPLE TIMES on your appearance. And not in a medical way. Grabbed your ankles not as part of the exam Looked at your naked back not as part of the exam Made sexual references during small talk Entered your room without knocking when he knew you were in a state of undress
Nope, not over thinking. Report and find another practice.
I would find a new Ob-Gyn and report this guy to the state medical board (be sure to include the sexual references unrelated to your care). Consider it a service to other women who might mistakenly see this guy.
Whatever his intention, you weren't comfortable so it's best to move on.
I would suggest reporting to the state licensing board. You might not really have a "legitimate" complaint, but if he's a creeper there may be other women who've reported him and that could be enough to trigger a look.
The back ting was probably a skin cancer screening- the CNP who does my well woman care always checks my reverse side for moles, etc because I can't see back there. Of course, she explains why she does it and sort of poses to me as something I could refuse. Fact is, many women use their ob/gyn as a PC doc, so it makes sense.

I do have quite a few moles on my back, but he didn't seems to focus on any of the moles, and literally called it his hobby. It was really quick, and he kind of ran his hand down my upper back to mid-back but on just the one side. It was all really weird. I wish I would've written everything down right away, but I thought I was just overreacting.

this is so weird. I am in with the other "report him" people
Just reading this is creeping me out almost as much as watching the creepy gynecologist from The Hand That Rocks the Cradle.
Regardless of whether he truly is creepy or not (I vote creepy), if you're uncomfortable, you're uncomfortable.
A doctor should never make you feel uncomfortable, most especially when you're as vulnerable as vulnerable gets during these types of exams and that doctor should have known better.

In this case I would report him to the board, it just doesnt sit right at all. My male gyno had his nurse present at ALL times but I dont know if that is the norm, it made me feel better knowing that the nurse was there. I might also be inclined to complain to the office manager, I had to do that previously when I had a incident with a gyno that wouldn't let me ask questions.
