Tuesday has been fairly quiet. I just got a garden fresh produce delivery from my in-laws -- tomatoes and banana peppers. My in laws have a grafted pepper plant and some of the branches grow bell peppers and others grow banana peppers. They are too afraid to try the banana peppers (thinking they are too hot) so I get them all. Fresh salsa is on the menu this week!! Other than that it's a quiet day around here.
I'm missing the excitement at home. My younger brother is giving me reports from the field on the Mardi Gras parades. Sunday he was waiting for a friend riding in one of them -- the parade started at 11:00 am and it was 5:30 pm before the lead vehicles got to my brother about 4 1/2 miles down the route! People think I'm crazy when I tell them that the whole City shuts down for four days for Mardi Gras. It has to! You can't get anywhere! I hear Monday was a bit better, but only because the parades don't start until 5:00 pm.
QOTD: The question was inspired by reports of people camping out all weekend on neutral grounds and parade routes to keep their spots for the Mardi Gras day parades.
In all honesty, there isn't really anything I need to see, do, or experience that I would camp out for, not even to ensure a front-row spot for a parade. But if I were in the right area, I would definitely stay up all night to see the Northern Lights, especially if I were at a hotel or house where I could go in and still look out the window.

Morning! Happy Mardi Gras :-) Sadly, not celebrating much. But pancakes sound like a great idea!
Today is relatively quiet at work and then I'm heading out to meet a friend :-) We are flying through the week, thank goodness. Looking forward to the weekend!
QOTD: Hmmmm, that is a good question :-P I can't think of anything that I'd wait up all night/in line for. I'll edit my response if I think of anything!
Hello, nothing much going on today. The week is already dragging, but I feel better because I told my supervisor yesterday that I'm not happy with full-time. Whether this means resigning or going part-time, I'm just glad I took the first step.
QOTD: I'm a huge baby about staying up late. I don't think there's anything that woudl keep me up all night. I did once go to a Harry Potter launch party at Barnes & Noble with my little sister. That was fun, and only until midnight. I do like your suggestion of the Northern Lights, though, dorothyinAus. That would be neat.
Happy Tuesday! It's a lovely sunny day (so far!). I confirmed dd2's start date in crèche (April 22nd) though it's two weeks of weaning her in. Back to work on 7th May. And dd1 is going up to 4days a week from April. Confirmed a long weekend away at beginning of April. With the whole family. Curtain shopping right now. For our bedroom. And I'm crap at this sort of thing....
Making pancakes later on. I might have some ham & cheese in a few of mine and then lemon/sugar!!
Not a very exciting Tuesday. I was up crazy late last night, so it's been a slow day.
QOTD: Things I've stayed up most of the night for... - World Cup (watching it in China, the major games started around 2am. Since we watched them at various patio bars around town, I became a connoisseur of alcoholic coffee drinks to stay awake) - Cricket World Cup (not anymore, but I've done it. XH and a bunch of colleagues bought a subscription and they used to air the games in the auditorium at work. To watch them live meant the the middle of the night in the US.) - Northern Lights (stayed outside in the cold until 2 am but they didn't make another appearance) - Poorly-scheduled flights (Does that count? We were flying to Australia the weekend before Christmas when the airport was experiencing frequent delays, so we wanted to be right at check-in when they opened and spent the night at the airport. This past Christmas, our charter flight got in at 3 am and there were no taxis, so instead of spending $200 to order one, we waited until 5:30 and took the train.) - "Winning" work parties (My previous team used to have a tradition that the person who stayed up/out latest for a team celebration was highly respected. I used to compete back in the day, but I gave up the crown years ago.)
I might stay up for something occasionally but I'm not really one to line up and wait outside for things most of the time, certainly not for long stretches of time. I don't "camp out" and I don't do those long festivals. I like my creature comforts. I might stay out late when I feel like it but I'm pretty lowkey about it. 9 times out of 10, I'm more likely to call it a night sooner than later these days.
Ooh! I thought of one case where I slept in a line!
I slept in line at the Newark airport check-in counter the night of the October snowstorm of 2011.
Mostly it was for the carpeted floor around the elite counter, but when the airline was completely short-staffed the next morning, it was a very good position to be in. Someone tried to cut in front of me, and a bunch of people jumped up to force them out of the way. "No! She's second in line after that guy! We all got here last night!" I still missed my rebooked flight, though, because it departed at 6:15 and they didn't even staff the check-in counter until 6:30! But I got on an 8:00 flight, so it worked out and I had time to take a shower in the lounge before my flight.
