We had two dogs and knew that our oldest dog was getting old and in more pain and the time was coming for us to say goodbye. Our second dog has only know life with a friend so knowing Henri, the oldest, was on the way out we got a puppy to establish the pack before Henri died. Well, while we were at the vet with Henri saying goodbye, someone stole our puppy from our hard (and left Frankie - dog #2). We have been doing everything in our power to find our puppy (Holly) but recovering her is very unlikely due to her coloring/breed and the fact that someone took her.
So, now to the problem. Frankie has always been a nervous pee-er but that is the territory with little dogs. (She is a yorkie/dachshund mix.) Since she has been the only dog, she is getting WAY more attention and has been spoiled rotten however, she has completely regressed in her training. She has been growling/nipping at our 2 year old (they were formerly BFFs) and my husband and me. She is also pooping on the floor almost daily despite being let outside hourly. She is also peeing in places that she knows she shouldn't be, like our bed. We have started over with crate training but she just started going in her crate.
I am at a loss what to do with her. We are frantically trying to bring her friend, Holly home but we have done all we can do other than going door to door asking about her. My husband is at his wits end and I am getting there quickly. The biggest concern is the nipping at our son. I am open to any and all suggestions to avoid re-homing her at all costs.

You can always take the dog to the vet and rule out a medical condition first. How much exercise does she get? Does she have any mentally stimulating toys? Have you tried taking her to doggie day care? How often does she get to go on walks? Have you tried working on NILIF with her?
