Confession: I've been watching trashy TV - The Real Housewives of Melbourne. Have you tuned in yet? I know all this stuff is fabricated these days and yet I can't turn away from it. Why does that barrister where a bucket full of make-up?
Schappelle Corby - Since I've replaced news with trash I may have missed this one. Last night I was trying to get a dose of news and I thought I saw she tried to harm herself while on parole. Do I have that one right?
The Oscars - Yay for the Aussies! I'm so glad Cate used her speech to plug the Aussie actors and actresses.
What shows are you into right now? I always love to watch MKR and think its my favorite cooking show and then MasterChef comes on and I can't decide which is my favorite.
ETA: I almost forgot the biggest story I wanted to discuss; Qantas! Any predictions on their future. Do you think the government will bail them out?
What!? They crossed the Housewives ideas over to Australia?
The only Australia show I've watched is Offspring. Really good if no ones heard of it.
I haven't watched Offspring yet but I've heard about it. Especially last season's big episode. I don't want to say what happens in case you haven't seen it yet. Everyone was talking about it the next day, radio and tv shows. And remember the band The Offspring? Because people were tweeting about the show they were mistakenly linked to this episode. (haha)
Yes, Its The Real Housewives of Melbourne. Its a hoot!

I've seen it. Quite shocking! It's a good show I just love how she banter's a monologue in her head all the time. I can relate to that feeling! The family dynamics are funny too. I love mistaken twitter identity tweets. bahaha
Yay, Aussie topics! I feel like we're at a lunch table in high school, with the UK girls on one table, the Benelux girls on another. And us scrappy chicks at another.
Over the weekend we watched the Rescuers Down Under. I had never seen this movie before but SO insisted since he loved it as a kid. Has anybody seen it? I highly recommend it! Might be a bit scary for teeny kids, though.
I want to get into that new Ten show Secrets & Lies. It's a miniseries, which I really appreciate that there's an end in sight so it doesn't just drag on ad infinitum like TV shows tend to do.
Speaking of Ten, goddamn it where is my The Americans?! They fast tracked season 1 "hours after the US", but there hasn't been a peep about season 2 now that it's started in the US.
I love MKR, but I retain my position that watching it gives you brain damage. MasterChef is so much classier, and when is it coming back?! They're starting to show ads for it, but no start date is mentioned. Boo, I need it to balance out the idiocy that is MKR (which I love). If I ever see David & Corrine in real life I fully intend to cuss them out and shun them publically. I've run into Jake & Elle a few times and shower them with adoration.
Aaaaaand I'm the loser who only talks about TV. I can't believe you missed the biggest story on the planet, CakeLover, crocodile eating snakes!
Confession: I love that snake, and snakes in general! I wish I got to see more in my daily urban life.
Clearly we need to get the antenna and booster hooked up. I have no idea what these shows are you are talking about because we don't get free to air TV, just Foxtel.
Qantas is interesting. I don't think the gov't will bail them out 100%, but they should throw them a bone or two just for being an Aussie icon. Up here it's all "Qantas is axing 110 jobs the sky is falling, it will have a ripple affect all over the city." Uhm, probably not so much. And they aren't axing the 110 jobs, they are moving the jobs to Brisbane. This happens all the time across many industries. No need to induce mass hysteria folks.

I haven't watched Rescuers Down Under, since I was a little kid. That's awesome! And yes, I want to get into Secrets and Lies. It takes place in Queensland.
Thats so cool you met Jake and Elle. They did snarky in a good way. Some couples don't know how to do it well and it makes them look mean. David was so odd so much so that I felt bad for Corrine.
No No No No NOOOOOOOO! I refused to acknowledge that snake story. Every time it came on TV, I would mute the TV and avert my eyes until the story was over. Burn all the snakes!

I found Qantas interesting too. Its funny because Tony Abbott was all like 'If we bail out one we have to bail them all out' and said that about SPC but he bailed them out. Qantas is not renewing (and I think selling) its lease space here at the airport.

I can't wait for Offspring to come back - I got into it last season! SO good I wish we had foxtel so I could see the real housewives:( Lately I have been watching that 'love child' mini series about pregnant teens in the 60s and how they took their babies away - it's SO sad but interesting too.
I think the government should stay out of private business and just let Qantas have more int'l ownership. I don't want them sending other airlines like Virgin Autralia under by picking just 1 to suppose (obviously we fly VA!)
I like MKR, but I haven't watched it in a few weeks now and feel kind of lost. We are been obcessed with watching breaking bad on dvd so not much else has had a look in:)

I'm a huge MKR watcher. But I firmly believe that show rots your brain. MAN is it dumb/predictable/repetitive but I can't quit it! When's MasterChef coming back to class up the airwaves a bit? Not soon enough!
I recently learned Australia's Next Top Model is on Foxtel. What BS! I always champion free TV because it's so great here. That tidbit pissed me off!
Since this is the Aussie thread, had anyone been to/know someone who's been to Flinders Ranges in SA? We're going over the "3 for 10" Easter/Anzac holiday and it seems so SO remote! And not super touristy.
I'm so thankful that Harry and Christo went home. They were absolutely endangering themselves by staying there any longer. Burning themselves, cutting themselves and so much dumb on the screen.
Oh god they were so hopeless! When it was announced they were going to the sudden death cook off you could tell in their eyes they knew it was done. No way in hell did they stand a chance against Helena & Vicky!

Ohhh! I love MKR and RHOMelbourne! I really want to smack Chloe and Kelly, they are just awful! And I love the psychic one (is her name jackie?) on housewives, with her famous rock star husband!
I saw on a trashy celebrity magazine cover yesterday that Carly & Tresne are a couple. That totally surprised me (if it's indeed true)! Carly is one of my favourite people in the world. She's amazing!

Hot Topics:
What do y'all think of Abbott's decision to re-instate Dames & Knights?
I have become addicted to Question Time, it's really my guilty pleasure reality television. I know others don't watch it like I do, but did anyone see today (March 27) when the Manager of Opposition Business (Tony Burke) moved a Motion of No Confidence in the Speaker? I was all over that and so sorry I couldn't talk to anyone else about it!
I'm not nearly as in awe over the Dames and Knights bit as I am over the fact that the old Governor General is a REPUBLICAN! She was the Queens rep on the ground and she was on the side to do away with the monarchy?!
And since she was the first person Abbott gave a title too, I started to wonder if it was all so he could say "screw you" to her.

What I thought the most interesting about Abbott naming her a Dame is that she's Opposition Leader Bill Shorten's mother-in-law.

Seems all so incestuous! The politics here crack me up. Its my dose of reality TV.
I love that Abbott was so against dames and knight titles. Also his 'If we bail one out we have to bail them all out' and then proceeds to help SPC. They all talk a mean game until their back is against the wall.
